g5xr1 06-06-2005, 09:14 AM man,,,,ok I got my new 1000, after being down for about 3 years now, and it seems to be a little on the slow side. Now , ive been gettin laughed at for even saying such a thing, but ive come to the conclusion that my 01 1000 was a bit faster. off the line this bike sucks a$$. it doesnt even feel like a gix until about 7,000rpm, and even then you have to put effort in bringin the front up :hmmm: so apart from the stock speed restrictions, the seats 2 low, the mirrors to narrow ( cant see around my shoulders) -& the shake like hell, the fawked up trunk space, ( which hardly holds a pack of smokes), and the retarded lookin rear cowel, which im hoping will some day grow on me, and the freakin hazards flash when its topped out, like an annoying little light in the corner of your eye. i guess im glad to be on the road again?
:headscrat any 1 else think that the 05 should have been a beta test, where as you could return it to sukuki, so they could fix the bugs?
MikeyzGixxer 06-06-2005, 09:22 AM my buddy's 04 1000 was the same way! i rode it and thought the same as he did( WTF!!!) he took it back to suzuki, they had it for about 2 weeks and said that there were a number of sensors wrong?! but no FI light/code?! go fig. that out... it deff. ran better when he got it back... and ran right the way it should have after he had it dynoed and maped...
armyman01 06-06-2005, 09:23 AM lol they think very highly of the 05 1k on here i know they aint going to like this thread but, i igot a chance to ride on too like for 30 minutes and was not at all inpressed thats why i stick around the srad years suzuki seem like they getting weak but, still i think its better than every other 1000 out their for 05 (if it aint suzuki :twofinger um)
UnFaZeD 06-06-2005, 10:11 AM lol they think very highly of the 05 1k on here i know they aint going to like this thread
:funny: I was just about to say that lol
audi1031 06-06-2005, 10:40 AM 05 1k has pretty long 1st gear that is why. Did you notice thatyou could ride your 1st gear alittle longer than the previuos ones.
Dstrbd GSXR 06-06-2005, 12:23 PM Up here in Boise, I watched an '05 1k totally annihilate every other older 1k in the 1/4 mile. Stock they run .5 seconds faster and about 10mph faster.
krgdesigns 06-06-2005, 02:26 PM Blah Blah Blah Stop whining and sell it!! Did you not look into it before you bought it? I sure look into purchases and even possibly ride them before buying. Thats a lot of complaints, did you expect it to be perfect for just you. Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure they would love this post on an R1 forum or something....LOL

Bad Day?
Motojoe_23 06-06-2005, 05:54 PM the bike is smoother, lighter, faster, and more powerfull than previous years.
I have ridden damn near every modern sportbike made, it is FAST. You are halucinating or you have something wrong with the bike.
NOW personally out of all the 05 litters, I think I like the power and ride of the ZX10 best, and if I wanted a litter that is what id buy. The suzukis syling doesnt sit well with me yet. The Zx is damn smooth.
g5xr1 06-07-2005, 07:00 AM had a buddy look over my gix n he found that the throttle possision sensor was off a lil, & i threw on an ivans TRE, which helped alot, now ita got a little more pep. power commander 3usb on its way. :)
05gsx1000r 06-07-2005, 09:42 AM i have a 05 1k and there must be something wronge with yours because i can take any other 1k around . the ninjazx-10r has nothing on my 05 1k so there something wronge with yours take it to the dealer and have them look at it
krgdesigns 06-07-2005, 10:07 AM Sorry guys I was having a bad day yesterday and needed to vent
Tazz Man 06-07-2005, 06:38 PM TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!! Yeah i rode the 05 and felt the same as you do,Then i rode an 01 and thought hooooly shit.it felt like it took right off like a bullet and just kept pulling.I went 1 down and 3 up with an 8inch extention and now it reminds me of a pitbull on leash just tuggin and wanting to go go go.
BMACKNYC1K 06-08-2005, 05:18 AM I have a 01 Gixxer 1000 and had a 01 750. Rode an 04 750 and a 05 1k. The 05 is an animal. The reason the older one may take off quicker is the gearing, they are more geared for the street. Starting in 04 all the bike manufacturers started gearing the bikes more for the track.
Even my 02 Honda 954 was not geared like a gixxer(you must go at least -1 to even keep up with gixxers), or had the power of one. Out of the new 4 literbikes , I think the 05 GSXR felt the fastest to me. They are still geared better way better than the new R1 and the tall geared 1000 RR. ZX-10 has decent gearing stock. Im keeping the 01 1000 for now(stock gearing is perfect), but out of the new bikes the GSXR is the best looking in person in my opinion. :headscrat
05gsx1000r 06-09-2005, 02:43 AM yea i also changed my sprockets too
BMACKNYC1K 06-09-2005, 07:38 AM all the new bikes the power seems to just come on late, but I really like the way the 05 1k pulls so hard..that thing is a beast...even the stock exhaust has grown on me....real nice bike
Widowmaker 06-09-2005, 01:31 PM ;) I had an 03 1k and loved the bottom end power. Now i have an 05 1k and truley feel it is a better handling bike. I have a set of forged mag marchinsi wheels that i took off my 03 model and an Arata full Ti system. Trust me guys this bike is a long history of race breed tec.
sacgsxr 06-11-2005, 10:58 PM you could of got a lemon
1000k3 06-12-2005, 04:14 PM maybe he dont know how to ride the damn thing. I mean alot has changed in 3 years man, my 03 has way more bottem end but up top the 05 walks. stock strapped and one down in the front 6.42 best on the 05. 03 with the same 6.50 best with about 2 mph less at the 1/8 mile trap, havent went to 1/4 mile yet
sacgsxr 06-12-2005, 07:59 PM yeah that could be true too...i rode a couple of them after you get used to the slipper them things are FAST!!!! handles like a 600 and just amazing fun...i did two laps at thunder hill on it...it just ate that track alive the bike new what do do and got it done, thats why i thougth it could be a lemon, it did its thing with little or no effort, but when you wrap it up OMG hold on or your comin off
2005gsxr 06-13-2005, 06:56 AM I have an 2oo5 1k and have drug everyone I have raced straight stock. Including lazy Busa's. Stretch, No2, power Commander, Honda 1k o5, Kal 10 05, Kal 12 whatever it was. Ran a 6.4 in the 1/8. Fastest bike out, hands down. Speaking from experience. You must have got a LEMON!
K-TOWN 06-17-2005, 02:26 PM i don't know about you guys, but I got 2,000 miles on my K5 1000, I have smoked every single thing I've seen on the street and hwy. I've had 12 bikes since 1989 and other then this I have a suped up BUSA and my busa couldn't see this nor could my 03 1000 or my 04 R1, so I don't know what the hell you are talkin about.
1000k3 06-17-2005, 02:40 PM think this is a joke. I mean has he even reposted its not worth me looking back  I concure the 05 is an all around good bike just have to get use to it.
kracker 06-17-2005, 05:03 PM The 05,k1 might be the fastest but the other day my friend wreeked going about 50 mph and that "POS" cought on fire and now isnt worth a thing..The front forks broke and before my friend even hit the ground the bike looked like a camp fire sliding down the road...The 05's fast dont get me wrong but when it hits the ground you'll be lucky if you can even fix it..
veras24 06-21-2005, 08:40 PM It seems to a common thing that the Tps sensor was off on a lot of 05 gixxers cause thats what went wrong with my 05 600. but its all fixed and i love the bike
rev411 06-23-2005, 05:14 PM The 05,k1 might be the fastest but the other day my friend wreeked going about 50 mph and that "POS" cought on fire and now isnt worth a thing..The front forks broke and before my friend even hit the ground the bike looked like a camp fire sliding down the road...The 05's fast dont get me wrong but when it hits the ground you'll be lucky if you can even fix it..
Don't let it hit the ground!
Blaster 06-27-2005, 04:15 PM I just got my 05 1000 and have about 600 miles on it at 70 mph in first with my 350lb brother on it it still has the power to stand up in fact you have to back out or you will loop it no slip of the clutch just roll on it. yes this bike is tame below 45mph but this is good for using on the street get the revs up and hang on the guy at the start of this post must have got a lemon.
2005gsxr 06-28-2005, 08:27 AM Top End king, too. Out ran a 2005 busa and an 2005 Honda RR 1000. Oh yeah there's don't shut off on any of these. I probably was running bout 215, don't know exactly because the speedometer stops at 186 but the RPM are still climbing. I know that is not my exact speed cuz the speedometer is of after you hit 100, but it was fun drifting by the lazy busa.
crash test dummie 06-29-2005, 04:49 AM g5xr1 i'll trade you my 02 750 for your 1k if you think its too slow. :headscrat mine runs 6.35's @118 in the 1/8. but i think you'll find you love the 1k. if i had the money thats what i'd have!!
UNEED1 06-29-2005, 06:45 AM I have owned my 05 Gixxer 1000 for 3000 miles now. Slow is not a word that comes to mind when I think about it. I have had it up to 174 mph so far, and there is lots more to go.
I think that it is the finest 1000 cc sportbike on the planet
If you have had a problem getting the fron up, you are not twisting the throttle enough.
DaBaLLa 06-29-2005, 03:52 PM my 05 1000 i've gone 186 mph.... stock.....i think it wont go N E faster than that.
Snakes600 06-30-2005, 06:54 PM I don't know, it seems like there are people saying it will lift the front in 1-3 by rolling it on and others say it doesn't because gearing is too high. I will tell you that mine does not lift the front and I weigh 140. On the other hand, I can barely hang on to it at full throttle, and it gets to the rev limit very fast.
whtthundysc 07-01-2005, 03:23 PM i like my 600
2005gsxr 07-06-2005, 11:18 AM my 05 1000 i've gone 186 mph.... stock.....i think it wont go N E faster than that.
Get a T.R.E. from gixxer.com
-JSD-2 switchable
You'll get faster than 186 I promise!
dannygsxr1000 07-07-2005, 05:39 AM TRE
5th Dimension 08-05-2005, 10:45 AM i've seen 191 mph on my 2005 1k. i've heard of some people seeing 200 and above, don't know if its true or not
g5xr1 08-05-2005, 02:51 PM i've seen 191 mph on my 2005 1k. i've heard of some people seeing 200 and above, don't know if its true or not
hmm, since i posted this thread, ive had my bike topped out numerous times , the longest being about 6-7 mins. and the speedo wont go over 186, sooo0o0o 191 sounds a lil over the top :burnout:
k5 gsxr1 ,ivans TRE, full yosh trs titanium, pcIII custom mapped. K&N.
soon to be re geared, cause first gears a f!@#$n turtle.
5th Dimension 08-05-2005, 05:13 PM i can't give ya an exact time of how long i was in it, but i can tell ya that when i was in it at that moment when i looked down i seen 191. and the people i was riding with told me they were at 185 and i was still pulling, not very hard, but it was still a pull, now i've been told that digital speedo's are incorrect, so i really don't know. all i can tell is what i seen on mine, and that people here (northwest fl) have said that they've seen 200. which sounds crazy to me
1000k3 08-06-2005, 05:14 PM the speedo will not read above 186. on any gsxr. I have an 03 and my best buddies is an 05 both with tre's also wont go out of 5th gear on the indicator on the 05 either with it on. 191 you have got to be guessing and not seeing it. unless you have this special 05 that no one else has.
5th Dimension 08-06-2005, 06:12 PM man then i might either been high as hell or something lol. i'm being dead ass serious when i say i seen 191. but shit i could be wrong, just like i'm sure that there is no way that a few cats in my town have seen over 200. anyway i'm not here to argue bout it i was just giving my experience. i am thinking about getting a tre, but i don't wanna have my indicator stayinh in 5th all the time, but if the performace upgrade is worth it then i guess its a small sacrafice
Snakes600 08-09-2005, 06:40 PM My speedo stops at 186. What I can't tell is if it will keep accelerating past 186. Does anybody know?
chavez 08-10-2005, 11:35 AM I have two words for the girl with the complaints, "power commander". Factory map settings are too lean, thanks to EPA. Just had suspension done on my gsx-r 1K 05 and if feels unbelievable. Also waiting for Power Commander, then it will go on the dyno for more accurate map settings. The shit is fast ass hell, only a little hesitation in real low RPM's.
robinsok 08-15-2005, 05:49 PM hmm, since i posted this thread, ive had my bike topped out numerous times , the longest being about 6-7 mins. and the speedo wont go over 186, sooo0o0o 191 sounds a lil over the top :burnout:

You went 190 mph for 6 or 7 minutes?? Where the hell do you ride. I didn't know there were roads that straight and long anywhere? You exaggerating a bit?
g5xr1 08-15-2005, 06:02 PM no exageration, we make a lil trip down to headliners, in toledo every wednesday night, its about 60 miles, and oh yeah! its pretty close to a str8 shot.
:arsenal but 1st gear still sux.

WHAT>>190 for 7 min's   if you can do that, you need to be racing bikes for somebody....
Snakes600 08-17-2005, 03:57 PM I have been on a 20 mile road that you can hold her at 160 and then go over 180 in some spots.
gsxrace01 08-18-2005, 06:19 AM if you can hold 160 for 20 miles, why can't you hold 180??and you speedo is way off also...how many cars did you pass on this 20 mile ride??there sure are some guy's telling some bullshit stories on here...lee shierts holds the record for a 1000cc bike..200.93mph....that bike is making around 200 rear wheel horsepower,,,that's almost 45hp more the a 2005 gsxr-1000,,,but there are guy's on here that think they can go 200
ltd-kmh 08-23-2005, 12:31 PM Upon doing a track day a few weeks ago I decided to get my 03 gsxr1000 dynoed.
Just before me was a bone stock 05 which got 151hp
And quite close was my bone stock 03 which got 148hp
From reading this thread and not seeing that much of a difference I think i will be sticking with my 03 rather then buying a 05.
Just my .02Cents! :)
FuzioN 08-23-2005, 03:01 PM my friend hit 300 kph on his '04 1000RR, hes a demon.
katanapilot 08-23-2005, 06:18 PM I have done 192 for a little over a minute.... then I pulled over and cleaned my leathers.

I guess you have never been on the Snake river in WA going into Clarkston. When I did the run last time, there were no on-coming cars and one that I had to pass.
Two reasons I couldn't hold 180; scared and there are some swimming holes where people hang out.
Oh and since I don't have GPS, the speeds are as indicated on the speedo.

An honest answer. Its about time.
gsxrace01 09-02-2005, 06:14 PM no,ive never been on a road you could hold 160 for 20min's,and not pass any oncoming car's,,and only 1 other car in your direction,,,,...it would be a death ride to try that anywhere around here,,,,....
ravennh 09-03-2005, 11:55 AM lol lets do the math.. at 60 miles an hour, you do 1 mile a minute.
at 180 your doing 3 miles a minute.
so.. 20 minutes would 60 miles worth of highway.. at least.
sure there are spots i've found from toronto to detroit, highway 90 through kansas and few others.. but i've yet found an empty 60 mile stretch of road.
Raven

a pipe dream,,i think>> :hmmm:
Snakes600 09-08-2005, 05:54 PM Hey, as you guys repeat what I said you started changing it. I did not say 160 for 20 minutes. I said 160 for 20 miles.
BTW, my buddy on his ZX12 holds it at 180 for that entire stretch. After he gets to the end he waits for a minute until the rest of get there.
It takes 7.5 minutes at 160 and 6.6 minutes at 180.
gsxrace01 09-09-2005, 05:11 AM you let a junk kaw-12 out run you... :headshake ..i'll stretch all your asses out for a mile..then slow down and watch you drive on by :bounce
Snakes600 09-09-2005, 12:06 PM Sorry about that...I just don't have the balls to hold it on.
ballstothewall 09-20-2005, 03:28 PM My buddy's 05 1k was retardedly fast. It put down 149.2hp at the wheel bone stock--not even a slip on. I watched the dyno test. Maybe the wing wang was half asleep when he built yours.
stackle2 09-20-2005, 05:43 PM I don't know about an empty 20 miles of highway, but there is a spot on my way home from work (I work an unspecified night job...kind of in the entertainment industry if you get my meaning) that has nothing, no semis, no cars...no pigs...so I allways just let it all hang out. shiiiaaat! your gixxer 1000 would have a hard time keeping up with me I believe...well, considering I am doing like 4 mph faster than you you might keep up, but shit, I mean, I take my ride to the top nearly every time....just think it's funny, people get the big toys but can't keep up with us little guys...that is lame dude. I wouldn't brag about that.
stackle2 09-20-2005, 05:44 PM Sorry about that...I just don't have the balls to hold it on.
Sounds like you have none at all...snake makes sense then...don't they have internal genitals? So, therefor, Sir snake, has officially no balls...I dub thee....um, no balls....forgive me, yet another drunk post
Snakes600 10-24-2005, 03:11 PM My 06 is faster than my 05 was. It is as I suspected some of the bikes are coming out of the factory slower than others. My new one runs like they are supposed to run. Lifts the front and breaks the tire loose easier.
azichek 11-07-2005, 11:44 PM ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
200hp+390 lbs+6 speed gearbox= really really fast. I cant believe i herd this. Your 1k isn't running right.
