Someone care to enlighten me? Is the V a specially optioned high performance edition? I tried an '06 and it felt "cheap". My friend just won an '07, I sat in it and it blows away (seating comfort wise) my present MKZ Lincoln and my ex-2005 Lse Lincoln. My 2005 was a great car, small V-8, rear wheel drive with a bang shifter, and a button to turn off traction control. Only 280 hp, but for a luxury car it was comfortable fun in a big way. I had a few older Caddy's and they were also overpriced junk, but with these new ones, it looks like the Lada style quality has come up to standards.

If I ever get challenged when Im married that I need to sell my TA, Im going to get one of those...... Would love to have a lopey motor like what I have in one of those, putting out some crazy HP and kicking young punks asses! Got a block ready to be built up. Im sure a motor install in that wouldnt be too difficult and would make a bad ass grocery getter

The GT-R is an everyday, "budget" supercar, something that anyone can drive fast anytime. The CTS-V is meant to compete with Mercede's AMG and BMW's M sedans, fast, luxurious, with room for passengers. And the GT-R will give the Z06 some competition, but the new ZR1 will leave it in the dust. But hey, it's just a crappy American built car, right?

I will concede that the GT-R is not in the same class of cars as the Chevy/Caddy. And for the price, you can get more bells and whistles, but a fraction less under the hood with an Infiniti M45. But until Road and Track or any car magazine does a head to head comparison, between the GT-R, Viper and Vette (I don't think the Ford GT fits nor would the Shelby Mustang), I will place my dollar on the GT-R

I don't know, I just have a soft spot for that car, whether it's outperformed by the German big boys or not, I will still own one. The Shelby GT-500KR has the horsepower to compete with the big boys, but weight has always been the biggest factor acting against the 03-04 Cobras and the new GT-500s. It has been stated in several articles that the GT-R is gunning directly for the Porsche 911 Turbo, but the Z06/GT-R comparison can't be avoided. It's gonna be an interesting match up for sure. I'm not completely sold on the GT-Rs styling (something about how the roof meets up with the top of the windshield makes it look like it's wearing a toupe or something ,lol), but I do like the car overall.

CTS looks good. good car to lease, beat the bag out of it. and dump it before all the GM problems start. Deff a fun ride tho. I would take the v off the back, tell people its the 3.8v6 or whatever the toilet motor they slap in there... and then make them shit themselves.

I have an 05' CTS-V. Its an extremely fun car to drive. And, believe it or not @ 400+hp RWD. Its very good in the snow. The traction control works wonders... NOW, the biggest problem that had me swearing up a storm yesterday was. They (Caddy) make it IMPOSSIBLE to work on these cars at all in your own garage. It literally took me 2+ hrs to change a signal light bulb located in the fog light housing. And, a daytime running light bulb. WHICH, may I add. Is an OEM only bulb. Parts America could not get me the running light bulb.:shifty

BUT in stock form against either the ZR-1 or the Viper it will get smoked but when it comes to modding it it will be a serious contender

ParkerTX The Caddy's suspension is built to handle the twistys. umm ok.. i guess.. the wieght of the car is WAY to much of a handicap on the twistys. there is no way in hell that caddy is gonna take a corner faster in the twistys then my 86 corolla. NO WAY IN HELL!! i dont care whos driving it. put tsuchyia in the driver seat id still give it a go. when it comes to cars and the twistys its has nothing to do with power n all to do with balance.

first of all dont take it up the butt guys.. im not sayin its not a nice car. im juss sayin on the mountain roads a lightweight rwd sport compact that u can full throttle threw turns is more then likely going take corners at a higher speed then over weight caddy with so much power and weight u wont even b able to get on the gas while turning. well here are some videos anywaise. one of my fav ae86's with a s2000 motor. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FW4jc96PVXQ&feature=related im pretty sure that caddy is not gonna out perform a fn skyline r34. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q5fe8JoW7dg&feature=related ae86 vs skyline r34 on the twisty http://youtube.com/watch?v=rQdHLM1EmJY this video has to b at least 15 years old. drift king on the touge not very fast but still tons of fun. http://youtube.com/watch?v=D5kAV_5oAkg&feature=related f20c AE86 at the track http://youtube.com/watch?v=pXQe4IcD4Rs&feature=related 20b rotary power corolla http://youtube.com/watch?v=fvPfi-ZeQRM http://youtube.com/watch?v=mzNOMb4V8eQ&feature=related and some fun http://youtube.com/watch?v=u2z58i97KhE&feature=related

almost the same concept of an agile 600 vs a powerhouse1000 heavyr car = more weight on the tires witch in turn would = less traction. lighter car = less weight on the tires/ think of it this way, what would turn faster? a tire with only 50 pounds of weight on it vs a tire with 150 pounds on it? you can only turn as fast as your tires will allow. pass that point and ul b understeering. i take physics at my college(couple years now) n we talk about $hyt like this all day.

It's obvious that the only knowledge you know about this subject comes from what you've learned in a classroom, otherwise you would've realized that there's much more to the handling equation than just weight. -Available traction (type of tires used) -Suspension geometry -Track width -Weight distribution Of course, when you look past just the handling aspect of a vehicle, in order to judge its performance around a track, you also have to factor in stuff like power output and braking ability. I doubt any of those Corollas will be able to out-accelerate or outbrake the CTS-V, sorry. Besides, if weight were the only factor governing a vehicle's ability to turn, then explain to me why the BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG, and Audi RS4 manage to do it so well despite similar curb weights to the CTS. And before you play that college physic card again, believe me, I've had my fair share of physics classes. ;)

GTR is faster than the Z06. They have tested it. And they tested the Z06 against the non V-SPEC GTR.. The V-SPEC is supposedly 77HP stronger.. here are some facts pulled off of a site that shows Higher performance model It has been confirmed that Nissan is planning to introduce a lighter and more powerful GT-R called the GT-R V-Spec.[11] or possibly Spec V.[12] Nissan has said that this model will be available in the United States in 2010[13][14] and will have 550 hp (410 kW) (an increase of 77 hp (57 kW)). It will also be 150 kg (330 lb) lighter. With these performance figures Nissan hopes to break the Nürburgring lap record for a stock vehicle.[15] [edit] Specifications The VR38DETT engineThe Nissan GT-R is powered by the VR38DETT engine, a 3.8 L DOHC V6. Two parallel Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) turbochargers provide forced induction.[16]. Production vehicles produce at least 480 PS (473 hp/353 kW) @ 6400 rpm[17] and 588 N·m (434 ft·lbf) @ 3200-5200 rpm[18] the engine also meets California ULEV (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) standards. A curb weight of 1740 kg (3836 lb) or 1750 kg (3858 lb) with side curtain airbags is achieved using a jig welded steel chassis with aluminum used for the hood, trunk and doors[19]. A rear mounted 6 speed dual clutch semi-automatic transmission is used in conjunction with the ATTESA E-TS system to provide power to all four wheels and along with Nissan's Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC-R) aids in handling and stability. Three shift modes can also be selected for various conditions. [edit] Performance Nissan claims a top speed of 310 km/h (193 mph) and various sources have achieved 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) times of between 3.2 and 3.8 seconds[20][21][22][23]. Edmunds.com achieved a standing 1/4-mile time of 11.6 s at 190 km/h (118 mph) using the GT-R's complex launch control system. Edmunds also speculated that faster times may be achievable on better road conditions than provided by the runway which they used for the test.[24] Evo magazine achieved a 0-100-0 mph time of 13.9 seconds, one tenth of a second quicker than a Corvette Z06 tested under identical conditions.[25] AutoCar achieved a 0-100 MPH time of 8.5 seconds.[26]
