Twisties on Long Island

I was wondering if any of the members out there are from Long Island, NY and know of any good twisty areas I could check out. I am from Massapequa and everything around here is all straight runs. I can only attempt to drag my knee around the Jones Beach Point so many times :lol: j/p. But for real any good areas to even out my chicken strips on?

i like the n.s.p. east of exit 36, but you have to wait till nighttime to avoid traffic. also rte 25 east of northport is fun(its got lots of twists and elevation changes) and it sweeps along the north shore,BUT BE CAREFUL cause it alternates between open forested areas and small towns(with town police!!)enjoy!!

oops, i made on BIG mistake on my last post. the road i like is 25A, not rte 25. trust me there is a big difference in traffic and lights. so goto 25A which is north of 25 for the ride...

Sweet, thanks. I will definitely have to check it out when the weather is a little more consistent. I hear a lot of the north shore roads are a little twistier than the south shore...I just needed a particular area to try out first. :thumbup:

i live out in Melville/Dix Hills.....exit 50 on the LIE....not too far from massapequa and east northport......i was out riding yesterday.....pm 4 my digits to go riding......there's pidgeon hill road, nothing crazy, but decent......carman rd......very short, but nice.......if u want to practice ur right turns, go hit up the clovers.

Yes Dustee left the land of the twisties for the nice straight roads of LI!!! :laughingr You guys get some nice roads for us to hit and the CRASH CREW will hit the big LI............:arsenal

seriously, who in their right minds would leave some nice roads for straight LI roads.....hahaha......jk man......i remember this summer riding with u guys, before big john crashed.....we all went to that connecticut diner thing.

Yeah we definitely need to get something going once it gets a little nicer out. The weather seems to have taken a turn for the worst over the last few days.

weathers been brutal here in CT. My dad took his bike out last weekend, hit 50 or so, and this morning I saw 11 degrees on the thermometer when i left for work.

yeah its too cold for me now, so ive been workin on the bike a little..i put on some frame sliders and i just got the galfer brake lines i ordered from motomummy. they go on real soon then its just waiting for the first 50 or so degree day and im out!!:yumyum:

25a out towards Port Jefferson is decent ride. There's a few side roads (which I don't know the name of) that run along along the water that are way cool - I'll try and find the names... 25a from rt. 110 west to 107 is a nice curvy/hilly ride as well. And 107 north has a couple of nice straights to open it up on...

yeah DIMA, i know them prob. 2 more weeks and im gonna be out and about...still too cold 4 me now though:thumbup:

anyone out ridin yet? ive been out the past week out here in riverhead....no major rides yet since im only on a permit still but its plenty warm enough for me to cruise around town does anyone know how backed up the tramas course at brookhaven nat. lab is? i want to sign up for a class this week but if im going to be waiting forever i might as well just take the regular road test.

was out yesterday late afternoon for like a 1/2 hour on 25A, but froze my a_s off!! i also noticed that even with all the recent rain that there's still ALOT of sand left on the road edges. i gotta say though that i LOVE my new GALFER brake lines!!

the ride to long beach in nissequague is nice. tight little road. not much speed but a lot of tight curves. also when in school my friend would all race at the kings park mental hospital. its close mostly so very little traffic and two seperate lanes with a little grass between them, one person is heading the wrong way but not many people travel in their.

There are a couple of great roads ont he island although they are not that long. Snake Path is pretty cool and a few roads up in the Cold Spring harbor area are good. Hamptons are also pretty good and there are a few hidden Gems out there. Then there is always the Jones Beach Circle for some quick kneedraggin.

Shore Road along Huntington Bay is a nice little short road with some good turns in it. yea its pretty fun, might be really sandy right now though. There are some awesome twisties in oysterbay/glencove/seacliff area. A couple of my friends showed me around and it was awesome.

Whiskey Road is awesome, so is north country road. Theres another one near whiskey that is very similar but i cant remember its name. They are all on the north shore near the farmingville to miller place and east areas up there

hey im from West Babylon and i ride these twisties up on the north shore oyster bay area. Also out east u got wisky rd which has a bad rep with alot of people but if u ride at your lvl u can have alot of fun hit me up and lets get numbers im putting my bike back together from being painted.

JUST A QUICK WARNING- i rode 80 mi. thurs, and when i got to work had a conv. w/ a hwy 3 p.o. he basically told me to watch out for nypd hwy cops targeting bikers THIS SPRING. some of u remember i was complaining last spring re: hwy cops targeting sport bikers...well they'll be at it again shortly...fair warning!!

FYI its not just highway cops, its almost a city wide initiative, memos get sent out to each command to nab bikers. Most cops wont even attempt to pull you over, but watch out in some of the worse neighborhoods (jamaica, rosedale, east new york etc) some cops might go to great lengths to get you stopped, ie opening the pass side door and slamming on the brakes to force you to stop. Most bikers in these neighborhoods run and the bikes are usually stolen.

yeah, i know the crackdown is citywide but i know for a fact theyre gonna be on the grand central just west of the cross is pkwy exit just pullin over/taking sport bikes. its enough to make me want to call some lawyer for biker discrim.!! :headshake

well i dont want to say exactly how fast, and sound reckless and all...but i will say this, ya got to have some testicular mass and big ones to triple digit speed between exits 38-41 especially since some of those turns get tight and go over some bumpy overpasses. i was out there thurs night and def did that since there was nobody on the road..prob be out again sat eve

i just got a ticket for it by suffolk...no tow/impound so i got lucky but still a pain in the ass good thing my road test is comin up in a few weeks, dont need to worry about that ish this summer

River road, make a left off 25 (smithtown main street) at the millennium diner and another quick left, take that over the tracks, past the stop light following the tracks and HAVE FUN! you'll find your self having to make a right or left at the end of the road, make a right and quick left and you'll be down at long beach :thumbup: I take my car down that way but not my bike yet.
