Alright I just purchased a new rear wheel(old wheel was dimpled), and I'm tryin to decide on a rear tire. My bike is setup for drag racing and I'm contemplating between a 180 Shinko 003 or a 190 Mickey Drag Radial.
Will switching to a 190 cause any problems physically installing it on the bike?
I know alot of guys say the 180s give them more contact patch, but I'm not sure if this is true or not, because you can't really compare a regular tire to a drag radial.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
768-Ryda 01-29-2008, 09:51 PM ive had alot of good luck with the shinko ultra soft and spencercycle.com has them for 118.00 TYD and these babies hook if u no what i mean

yeh i had a shinko on my 750 and it gripped nicely.
manny1 01-30-2008, 07:01 AM I was told that the Mickey Thompson hooks better, but wears much faster. How long does a Shinko U-soft typically last, with about 6-10 trips to the track per season?
768-Ryda 01-30-2008, 07:16 AM i usually go thru 2 a season, but realy depends on how agressive a rider u are and how long u do a burnout in the wet box
PhqOphRacing 01-30-2008, 07:18 AM Shinkos are good tires for there money, ive ran quite a few. The last for a good long time, but they are very heavy.
If you want a good tire that is light, has excelent traction, and will last, look into a Michelin Power Pilot race (soft). They are a little expensive though, roughly $225-$250, compared to the shinkos at $118. And yes spencercycle is the best deal around on shinkos
Well looks like I'm not gona pick up the Mickey then.
Anyone see any adverse affects going to a 190 from a 180?
Gsxr10to8 01-30-2008, 02:35 PM i run the shinko stealth ultra soft and made about 35 runs on it last year and the tire still looks like it has another 50 runs left on it. i also put about 4200 miles on the tire driving around town and to work.

Gona order the new tire after the first of the month. Going to order the 003U 190/50/17.
Debating if I want to keep my Pilot Power as the front tire for now and switch out to the 003 or 003U

gixxre750 01-31-2008, 11:31 AM For The Money, Shinko. Unless You Are Making Monster Power You Dont Need The Mickey. I Have About 70 Passes On My Shinko, And It Has Probaly That Many Left In It. But Like Others Have Said, They Are A Few Pounds Heavier
PhqOphRacing 01-31-2008, 03:05 PM I forgot to add, with a Mickey youd be lucky to get 15-20 passes out of them.
Gsxr10to8 01-31-2008, 03:22 PM Gona order the new tire after the first of the month. Going to order the 003U 190/50/17.

i rode with my pilot power on the front and shinko on the rear last year. but thats only cause i got a nail with my pilot power rear and decided to get a better one for drag racing.
roswald21 01-31-2008, 03:32 PM I have had very good luck with the Pilot Powers. Qualifiers aint bad either.
gsxr-rider137 02-11-2008, 03:17 PM 1.42 60 ft times on a shinko......and they don't wear as fast as a mickey.
only disadvantage is its heavier

Michelin PILOT POWER $ let me know if ya need one you wont be paying $300 a tire you will pay a hell of alot less.
All the turbo bikes are using em now along with anyone fast.
gsxr-rider137 02-17-2008, 10:09 AM <-------FAST and using a SHINKO !!!!!

I low sided on this tire. Probably the worst tire eve. Is this the only tire you have ran? I really like the Pilot powers for track and hard riding around the canyons and the shinko stealth for drag. Thats just me though!!!
yellow1000 02-17-2008, 12:31 PM shinko! its the way forward!
corybusa 02-17-2008, 08:24 PM i also prefer the way the shinko feels on the street. pretty hard tire to beat for the price.
