http://news.scotsman.com/latestnews/Jeep-driver-39swerved-into-biker.3813161.jp Jeep driver swerved into biker before mallet attack' A JEEP driver deliberately swerved into a motorcyclist then hit him with a mallet as they sat at traffic lights, a court heard today. Bernard Doherty, 55, allegedly shouted: "I'm going to smash your bike up and then I'm going to run you over", before driving into Paul Wisdom's motorcycle. Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told Doherty sat laughing as the biker screamed in pain as his leg was trapped then swung the mallet at him, hitting his crash helmet. The incident is alleged to have taken place in Telford Road, Edinburgh, on August 10 last year. Doherty is accused of assaulting Mr Wisdom and his passenger Shaun Leonard by striking Mr Wisdom with a mallet and driving his car, described in court as a red Daihatsu jeep, into his motorcycle injuring the men to the danger of life. He is also accused of committing a breach of the peace by shouting and swearing and brandishing a mallet at the men, and swerving his car to prevent them overtaking him and driving into them knocking Mr Wisdom and Mr Leonard off the bike, injuring Mr Wisdom. Doherty, of Stenhouse Crescent, Edinburgh, denies the charges. The trial continues. The full article contains 204 words and appears in Edinburgh Evening News newspaper. I don't mean to jack this thread, But a year ago I was riding in heavy traffic and some guy turned into my lane and almost hit me.....so I got in front of him, gave him the finger, and took off. Well, I wasn't paying attention and I heard tires skidding....so I looked back and that guys bumper was inches from my bike. The guy was chasing me and trying to knock me off my bike in heavy traffic. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE

This wasn't on a major highway....well kinda (US route 30), It was a 4 lane through a town, heavily congested( day after Christmas ), speed limit was 45. I took off for like a 100 yards, and then resumed speed limit....at the time i had no rear view mirrors, so I had no idea I was being pursued. Never thought the guy would chase me either. Hope this clears up your question

I remember a time when there were people who openly tried to take motorcycles out. In the late 70's i had a old man try to bump me off the highway. Looked right at me, smiling and dug his wheel to the right. he bumped me onto the gravel shoulder, i could not brake effectively, but he found his windshield on the receiving end of 6 feet of anchor chain(yea, we used chain for security back then to lock up bikes) slapped across his field of view at 80 miles per hour. I heard later that there was a accident on that part of the highway, and i did not wonder, nor did i care if he was injured. Tulsa. If anyone knows the area, it was on Darlington at about 24th st. by the elementary school there. long gentle slope down to 31st. I was at the top on my kz1000, she was an old lady at the bottom of the slope. Looking right at me, seemingly waiting for me to pass. Then she pulls out in front of me quickly and stops, still looking at me, not panicky like she just saw me, and oopsey sorry! She fucking stopped. Swerve, brakes, slide behind her into the curb at 40 miles per hour. Both legs broken, all my ribs on the left side, left arm in several places, hand, you get the picture. She pulls up a little and for a good 10 seconds she looks at me in her rear view mirror, looks around and fucking drives off. To this day i look for that face everywhere i go. I know shes dead now (this was in 1981) and i hope she resides in hell.

A couple years ago, I was about 1/2 mile from my house and not to any major roads yet. A guy pulled out in front of me with his bike strapped in the back of his truck. He was going pretty slow. I understood why and eased the throttle to pass him. I figured he'd understand my wanting to go faster, just as I understood him wanting to go slow. I entered a sweeping turn (25mph zone), at about 40mph. At the end of this turn was a stop sign. This idiot came screaming past me in the other lane, as I approached the stop sign. He had his brakes locked up, and was passing me. He pulled in front of me and I stopped just inches from his bumper. He then had both his shoulders out the window, yelling at me. I noticed that in the back of his truck (behind the driver seat) was a milk crate with a baseball bat sticking out of it. If I had said much, he could have gotten the bat and been to me before I could have turned the bike around. Remember, I was just a few inches from his bumper, so I couldn't just turn the handlebars and go. I'd have to back up first. All you guys that talk this "why would you need to carry a gun on a bike" crap need to keep incidents like these in mind. My life was in this idiot's hands. It was a feeling I didn't like at all. I now have a permit to carry a handgun. If in this situation again, I know I would be able to pull out a gun by the time he got out of the truck and grabbed the bat. :arsenal

I was riding a couple sundays ago with about 14 other bikes like usual. We were going through some back country roads in KY when we came up on a big truck with an open trailer that had a bobcat in it. He was flinging up gravel and all sorts of shit on the road so we went to pass him and go on our way. When we tried to pass him, he would swerve into the other lane and swing the trailer at us. He almost hit 2 of my buddies when they tried to pass so we backed off a little and tried to figure out what the hell he was doing. So we would have someone try and pass on the left and he would swerve and then send someone up right to get around him. It took us about 25 min to pass this guy because it was on a curvy road that had blind turns. We finally passed him and pulled up to this stop light where everyone was waiting for the rest of the group. We all got off our bikes and ran up to this guys truck before he took off. He called the cops on us and they showed up. They just told us to slow down even though we weren't doing anything. I'm def going to carry now :arsenal, .45 cal. stupid haters. I want to mount my gun to my gas tank haha:thefinger sorry for the long story.

I was in the army and qualified with the 9mm (among other weapons) so I do have some familiarity with handguns. Ballistic test wise with ballistic gelitin a 380 with hollow points does the same as a 45acp round nose. It wont have the penetration for cars and such but eh it is a small made pistol. There are smaller varients of the 9mm .40 and 10mm. 40's and 45acp which everything but the 9mm have the knock down.... if you enter the .357 and .44 arena well.... knock down is just a part of the kill. There are snub noses of the two wheel guns. 3 of my favorite pistols are an older pre berlin wall down CZ75 made for combat then an HK4 and the 911. Well make that 4 of my many pistols make the favorites list by adding the model 66 combat .357. Remeber .357 kills no matter how big they are. It's best left for not having time to bs around in home defense and it will fly through walls big time. Be careful with the .380 and hollow points. Some .380 pistols will give a problem chambering the hollow points consistantly. The work around is finding a hollow point that has tips that don't jam up on the feed ramp. Enough guns. Just make sure you have a 1000 that will pass faster than they can swerve.

+100 to carrying while riding. Unless on a super aggressive ride, I keep a Glock 30 concealed at all times. Vegas is a terrible place for road rage, and brainless drivers. Made me wonder how "Smart" the owners of these cars are. :headscrat Speed safe out there ppl!

Was riding on just rained on road, my wife on the back. *important informantion - I have a HORRIBLE temper when people jack with me. I fully disclose I have "short guy syndrome" where people have fucked with me and fucked with me until now I bow up like a rooster in situations where it probably isn't needed. I normally carry a Glock model 23 .40. I have never pulled and pointed it, never needed to. Yet. So on the wet road, I am running 5 over the limit of 45. A Toyota comes up behind us, 3 or 4 kids in it, gets 3" off my rear tire and starts honking the horn. Surprisingly, I for once keep my cool. I pat my wife's leg twice, our signal for "ok" and maintain speed. The Toyota keeps up the honking and revving the motor for another mile or so, when they pass me on a double white line section of the road, flipping me off as they pass. Right in front of the local hospital. Right where a cop is sitting. 10 seconds later the cop BLOWS past me with his foot to the floor, and a mile or so up the road my wife and I get to cruise right past the kids, now pulled to the curb, cop already searching the car. We smile and continue on to dinner ... :bounce I'm really glad my wife was with me, that was the ONLY reason that night didn't turn out really really ugly, with ME probably going to jail instead of THEM.

People do that because alot of bikers dont do anything except give the driver a bad look. Like thats going to do anything. Everytime somebody cuts me off on purpose, I bust their mirror out, or take a knife or any sharp object and put a big ass scratch down the side of their car. If bikers would start being more harsh to stupid fuckers like that then we wouldnt have this problem. people would start being scared of what the reaction a biker will take if they fuck with us. It wasn't a mallet, it was his shillelagh!! On a serious note, we have it easy as bikers nowadays. But, as with everything else, things go in cycles. Just look at those tight-ankled pants that are back, which didn't even look good in 1984, if you don't think things go in cycles. My grandfather, in his younger day, rode Indians and Harleys with his brothers. My dad cut his teeth on a Triumph Tiger. The difference is people's attitudes. In the 50's guys on motorcycles were just that. Having a good time, and noone messed with them. My dad, however, remembers it differently in the 60's and 70's. Beer bottles thrown from cars at their heads, getting run off the road, etc etc. Somewhere in there people got a hate-on for two wheels. The sad thing is, right now bikers just came off a golden age. Let's face it, ever jackoff banker and tax accountant has a Harley now. ((A side note, I'd like to thank Harley for the further pussification of the american male by catering to these worthless shits). People are getting tired of bikes again. And, since our bikes are generally stereotyped to younger crowds, they're going to start with us.

I mean accidents happen and the first reaction when someone hits you or your vehicle is anger. "What the f*ck were you doing?" you shout and they reply "You were f*ckin speeding you asshole!" Coming to punches is one thing, but pullin your guns out in anger and everyone shooting each other......Not my idea of a nice rideout! I'll stick with my snub nosed hammer and my sawn off mallet thanks very much!! lol

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE  unfortunately it's gotten to the point where it's not even worth standing up for yourself on the road. How'd you shake him?
