cakemonster 06-18-2005, 03:06 PM was 1 mile away from home, after riding a tank and a half out in the san bernardino mountains. jumped off the freeway at martin luther king blvd in riverside, for some reason, 3 exits before my exit because i wanted to try a few wheelies on the way home from the stop signs. i get to my first stop sign and go to put down my foot, only i don't feel the ground. i look down to see what the fuck is happening when i noticed my pant leg was cought up on my peg.right at that time i had one of those moments... you know, the moment you realize you are going to eat shit and there isn't anything you can do about it. after what seemed like a minute.. but was really 1 second.. the bike flipped over on it's side with my leg stuck to it and mashed my knee into the ground and bent my foot funny to where my heel was against the frame and my toes where touching the ground, so the whole 350 lb bike was weighing against my boot. if i wasn't wearing boots, my foot would have been crushed! Thank you Sidi!!! i still have a left foot! as for my knee, i only got a slight rip in the pants like a skateboard bail. something was stopping me from going past that stop sign to do those wheelies! but gas spilled out of my bike and some dude came running over and helped me get the bike off my boot and stand it up. i then realized there was like 20 cars that saw me fall on my ass coming to a stop. what a bummer...
atleast i didn't hurt myself
now for the bike...
the son of a bitch wont start now, and i killed the battery trying to start it! how the hell do i get it to start again? it's due for it's 11000 Mi tunup anyways so if i got to rip apart shit to drain gas or something from the carb.,.... nows the time to do it. it sure doesn't want to start now though! can somone help me out?
cakemonster 06-19-2005, 06:25 AM tried to jump start the bike yesterday and it started up for a few minutes... but now it wornt stay running.. think it something to do with the "generator" according to the service manual. when i fell over i must have knocked a magnet loose or something?
TheBumbleBee 06-19-2005, 06:50 AM my favorite is when you think you put the kickstand down......and you didn't
cakemonster 06-19-2005, 09:00 AM yeah, i sure feel like an idiot now that I CAN"T RIDE MY FRIGGEN BIKE just because i dropped it at a stop sign. today is sunday and it's sunny as hell outside. would be a great day for a ride
mr_gsxr750 06-19-2005, 10:20 AM my favorite is when you think you put the kickstand down......and you didn't
i almost pulled that once lol, good thing i always make sure its down perfectly before i walk away lol. I went to slowly let the bike go when it didnt seem to be staying up. i put the kickstand down but it wasnt locked all the way. Good thing i didnt walk away in a rush
Psych_77 06-19-2005, 11:05 AM i almost pulled that once lol, good thing i always make sure its down perfectly before i walk away lol. My habbit is putting the kickstand down to shut the bike off. It isn't a problem except when I'm moving the bike around the garage with the engine off and kickstand up.
TheBumbleBee 06-19-2005, 11:09 AM It isn't really as easy to hold the bike up either when it's leaning more than 45 degrees and you got no support from your left leg. I've almost dropped it a couple times like that. :damn:
chuapieceagum 06-19-2005, 12:00 PM right at that time i had one of those moments... you know, the moment you realize you are going to eat shit and there isn't anything you can do about it.
:laughingr  :laughingr
cakemonster 06-19-2005, 10:14 PM :laughingr  :laughingr
I got thw bike running of it's own battery now after inspecting the charging system according to the factory manual...
now it seems to either be misfiring or needing spark plugs/tunup or maybe a spark plug wire came off. the smooth power cuts in and out for a jerky missing a cylinder sound. I'll rip all the plastics off again tomorrow and try to tune it up... see if that helps. atleast it's wasn't a $300 generator
mr_gsxr750 06-19-2005, 10:17 PM i dont think the worst part is that you fell, the worst part has to be when you try and get up and look around and notice that 20 people seen you fall!!! :laughingr
how embarasing! i hope that never happends to me! ( which it probably will lol)
cakemonster 06-19-2005, 10:22 PM i can tell you one thing for sure, that wont happen again.. I'll be tucking pants into my boots from now on to prevent another stupid spill
And the worst part was actually when one of the 20 cars watching's people jumped out to help cause i couldn't lift the bike back up by myself, off my ankle
crazypeople64 06-20-2005, 04:04 AM Have you gotten your bike started??? Same thing happened to me after riding the front wheel to avoid hitting a car.
armyman01 06-20-2005, 07:26 AM lol almost did the same thing if front of my baber-shop it will be a good laugh later on though :laughingr
usdm420 06-20-2005, 11:41 AM gotta love it.....as for the misfire....beats me...any fluids get into any of the plugs??
cakemonster 06-20-2005, 03:38 PM got it running today, bought plugs, oil filter and a new chain. it's running like new again. back to thrashing it. seems a few people told me the same thing USDM.. did fluids hit the plugs? so slapped some new ngk's and i'm good to go again
cakemonster 06-20-2005, 03:41 PM however i developed a thorttle grip problem..
and since i was at the shop buying shit today i was drooling over the new 750's.. man they lookin saweet. the 1k's are thin at the leg part of the frame too! might be looking into a new bike soon just for the hell of it
pmhallum 06-22-2005, 09:00 PM I almost did that at a stop next to my buddy on his R6 when I tried to put my left foot down and my laces were all tied around the peg I practically threw myself off the bike to the right to get it to stay upright.
mikeb12 06-23-2005, 02:31 PM check your plugs. similar situation and that fixed it.
JFM GSXR 750 06-27-2005, 12:45 PM Two summers ago, I had a case of the drop-ies...........about a 1/2 mile from my house at a light that leads to the highway, which I have ridden a thousand times. I was about to make a right turn, put my foot down on a little rock or someting and lost my balance. Fighting the fall just made the fall seem like it took a hour or something. The ground was slanted. I was on my back!!! Totally embarrased :laughingr ............I rushed to pick-up the bike at the wrong angle and felt pain all in my lower back. :headshake Cars stopped in three directions............everyone rushed over. "Are you OK, what happened"??? Somebody helped me pick-up the bike. :funny: Needles to say the bike cut-off 5 miles down the road and I had too push the bitch back home!!!! :2hard There was scratches on the right side........I just had a sore back and sweated my ass off pushing that heavy bitch home........VFR 500lbs+ wet.
JFM GSXR 750 06-27-2005, 12:54 PM Same summer maybe a month later........I was pushing the bike into the garage after a ride..............tripped on my own feet and the bike hit the side of the garage. Didn't go all the way down, CAUSE the tank hit the edge of the garage!!! I almost screamed like a little girl when I saw the DENT in the tank!!! :damn: :wtf: To make matters worse my darling wife said "maybe you shouldn't ride anymore since you keep dropping your bike"..............just what I wanted to hear............ :headshake :argue:
robertedwingsxr 06-27-2005, 12:59 PM yeah i got a ticket the other day doing 68 in a 55........can't believe he even stopped me, and my quasi-girlfriend said i should stop riding..........i'm like i'd give you up before the bike..............
TheBumbleBee 06-28-2005, 06:26 AM it's one thing when it's your fault...it's another when someone backs over it with the lawnmower! :wtf: :2hard
robertedwingsxr 06-28-2005, 06:34 AM no, that does not sound good............hopefully the bikes ok........
TheBumbleBee 06-28-2005, 11:59 AM well, take a look at the picture in my sig. it's been knocked over so many times but still looks pretty good.
rkrummel01 06-30-2005, 03:19 AM i didnt want 2 copy and paste that whole post but the answer to the question of why it will not start should be that under the seat area there is a tilt switch that has been activated due to the bike leaning over that far, that should be the case but also i didnt check the year, check into it and how to reset youll prob be good as new.
04 yoshi gixxer 1000 06-30-2005, 10:06 AM ya I got a ticket the other day the cop said I was doing 96 in a 55 for almost $600.00 he said by lazer but he was lying I was doing 140 he could not see me where I was. so he took a guess since he heard the bike the PRICK :fu:
usdm420 06-30-2005, 11:40 AM fuck that....if i'm already hauling ass and a car tries to stop me.....GONE...peace..
gixerfast 06-30-2005, 05:06 PM i didnt want 2 copy and paste that whole post but the answer to the question of why it will not start should be that under the seat area there is a tilt switch that has been activated due to the bike leaning over that far, that should be the case but also i didnt check the year, check into it and how to reset youll prob be good as new.
to reset the tip over switch you just cycle the key on and off
rkrummel01 06-30-2005, 06:02 PM my 03 had to be dealer moded and turned off, in my garage done in an hour. :headscrat
Walk04 06-30-2005, 10:02 PM Sounds like to me your spark plugs are just flooded, take all of em out and clean em, should be just fine after that.
cakemonster 07-03-2005, 08:14 AM it was probably a combo of the switch and the plugs..
i got it ironed out. the bike is running fine now... just did a chain change last night and it's zipping smoother than ever. although i think i got a dirtbike chain?! is a DID chain made for dirtbikes?
stackle2 12-08-2005, 10:44 AM aren't you the one trying to do stand up wheelies??!! Hope that chain was a good fit....would hate to break a chain doing a clutchup....christ that would hurt your balls, and god knows where the chain would go
my gsx-r 750 12-08-2005, 11:40 AM i almost ate shit similar to you...a double whammy experience for me.
first off, I have never dropped my bike, or layed it down. I came close to it and it scared me...
I was coming up to a left turn at a red light. I put my left foot down first only it didnt touch the floor. It was hanging there and i couldnt get it to touch so i threw my body to the other side of the bike to balance with my other leg. Then as i get it all situated... I can put my foot down. The left turn light turns green and i put my feet up and take off normally... As I am leaning in my turn, my left foot slides off the peg and slaps the ground (WTF!) I pull over to see why my foots all slippery and look at the bottom... I stepped in a puddle of oil with my left foot ( my shoe was scared to touch the ground cuz the oil :laughingr ) I have oil on the side of my white shoe and all over my peg :2hard man I was pissed.
egsxr600 12-08-2005, 02:12 PM I have an 05. 600 and i fell over aslo the 2nd day i got it. it didnt hurt the bike. it sure as hell hurt my ego!
my gsx-r 750 12-08-2005, 02:24 PM that sucks... you know what i thought was the best thing i ever saw...
a guy on a yellow 05 gix six. was at a 4 way stop sign and i was going across directing from himmm he was going ----> and i was going ^ (great example lol)
anyway... he got there before i did so he was supposed to go. As hes taking off I notice its brand new w/ a hamh plate on it. He stalls the bike and me and my co-worker start laughing... and he trys to play it off by reaching in his pocket and pulling out his cellphone. As he does that a cop is behind him and hits his sirens and he turns around. hahahahha :laughingr :laughingr :laughingr :laughingr prolly the funniest thing ive seen on a bike yet.
CNY750Rider 12-08-2005, 02:35 PM You guys think all that is bad......try leaving your kickstand down while doing a one handed highchair........ :laughingr
my gsx-r 750 12-08-2005, 03:46 PM omg.... what happened to that guy?
usdm420 12-08-2005, 03:49 PM i wonder what ever happened to CakeMonster....i rode with him and smoked out with him a few times.....never heard from him in quite a few months?.?.?.?
CNY750Rider 12-08-2005, 04:04 PM omg.... what happened to that guy?
the funny thing is, nothing. He just rode it out somehow.
lebron 12-09-2005, 11:59 AM its hard 2 say if that was skillz or just plain luck ? :hmmm:
CNY750Rider 12-09-2005, 12:20 PM I think both and he set it down nicely.........
stackle2 12-09-2005, 05:03 PM Here's an update for dumb shit I've done
Today: was like 26 deg. out, snowing, and I had to take my bike from the garage it was in to my heated workshop like 40 miles away....was cold, I couldn't feel my body, so I stopped at a starbucks to warm up....I picked my leg up to let down the kickstand, but was so bundled up I didn't notice that I ripped a whole in my pants (my good riding pants too) and managed to get myself hung on my left peg...when I dropped the kickstand my bike and body tried to go with it, I managed to rip the rest of my pantleg most of the way off in the process of catching myself...then I borrowed scissors from the guy in the coffee shop and cut off the bottom half of my pantleg, I just had long john thermals and black socks showing underneath, and still had a 20 mile ride home, looking like Ice Cube or some shit, with cyanosis setting into my fucking leg, plus I looked like a squid....
BallHawk3 12-09-2005, 05:11 PM lol why is it always pants????
Gosh this shit happened to me and it was the last time i dropped my bike. I hadn't dropped my bike since i first started riding but the last time was like a few months ago.
Was riding the canyons, and fucking hard. Was pretty much trying to get better. I had gone about 50 miles of canyons so far, and was connecting over to a different canyon. I was sooooooooore as fuck. My legs are sore. So i get up to this light to cut across the canyon (bascially a main road to the beach cuts across this canyon about half way through it, so there happens to be a traffic light there). So i'm there at the light, its a llong light (cause the road that cuts across is a heavy traveled road to the beach) and two cars just came up behind me and are waiting too. I cut my bike off and deciede to put it on the kick stand so i can relax and stretch a bit. (i have short legs to begin with so i'm always on one tippy toe or one foot). I reach to put the kickstand down but miss, cause my pant leg got caught on the fucking leg, i missed bad and lost my balance. Next thing you know, i'm doing the one legged hop dance (on the kickstand side leg which is left) at the light trying to keep my balance and not drop the bike just going "fuck fuck fuck fuck." Then........daaaaaar she blows. Bike drops over to on the left side. Didn't get my leg stuck under the bike. And then what do you know, the light turns green and there are two cars in back of me fucking just waiting and witnessing this. Not to mention cars stopped at the red light (perpenticular) also watching this. I'm like thinking, fuck better hurry. I try to lift my bike up. Couldnt' do it first time. Try it again, couldn't get it up cause i'm fucking tired, by this time the guys in the car in back of me (which was actually a mini van) get out to help. As there getting out, i finally get the bike back up, hop on and ride the fuck off, and the light turns red.
Man, i felt so ashamed. I tore up the rest of the canyons to feel better. :laughingr
gixxercat 12-11-2005, 03:41 PM I have done that too but, thank god it wasn't in front of that many people only one, the guy that rode with me all the time and knew I was a good rider (or so he thought) that was ten years ago and he still brings it up every chance he gets.
