SILVER K6 04-23-2008, 05:06 PM So I was on my way home from work yesterday and some A$$hole pulled out in front of me and stopped when he saw me (i.e. Blocking the whole lane). I hit the brakes as best I could but the rear locked up and I ended up slamming into his driver's side fender and flying over the bars and past the van about 15 feet. I remember the impact, but the next thing I remember is the pain in my leg and looking down to see what was left of it. All in all I'm ok I didn't break anything but I've got some nasty bruising on my right shin (I'm assuming from the bars), and my left arm/shoulder doesn't seem to wanna stay in the socket (I'm assuming that was what I landed on). Anytime I reach for something or put on/take off my shirt it pops out of the socket. The ER attending just said that if it didn't get better in 5 days go see my Dr.
The bike is not as bad as I thought it would be, the whole right side plastics are gone tail and all, and I'm pretty sure that the radiator popped because there was coolant everywhere. I'm assuming that the forks are bent because I hit pretty head on. I just hope it's totaled because I'm not really interested in getting it back.
Has anyone else ever not remembered anything between impact and landing, I just thought that was weird. My helmet has almost no scratches so I'm pretty sure I didn't hit my head, but I've never blacked out like that.
I'll put up some pics here in the next couple days when I can walk again...LOL
holeshot77 04-23-2008, 05:39 PM First off:
Glad your okay and doing fairly well considering the fact.
Second:
If they do total it, get a new bike, don't let a punk minivan and unskilled motor vehiclist take away your right to own the roads too.
Third:
Sue him for all your hospital bills and get better soon.
:headshake:)
GSXR DON 04-23-2008, 06:15 PM That sucks. First post is about your crash. Feel better champ.

that's actually not weird, it last only for a split second
so it is common to not remember that instance
best of luck to you.

holy crap - glad you are OK - you probably blacked out from the shock of your shoulder injury - I smashed the end of my finger while filling dive tanks and almost blacked out 30 seconds later when my brain figured out how bad it hurt - the brain can do really weird things to protect us from pain....
I find the most common vehicle to pull out in front of me is mini-vans, in fact I pretty much assume that they are all going to pull out in front of me which has helped me avert several incidents - my wife drives one too - but she is a little more conscious of motorcycles since I started riding:thumbup:
get well soon !!
SILVER K6 04-24-2008, 10:26 PM It isn't really my first post I've been on the boards here for about 2 years but haven't actually posted in about 4-5 months so I think what happened was that my account was reset back to post number one. I did get an email the other day about an inactive account but logged in without any problems so I didn't think anything would change.
Oh well thanks for all the replies and the plan is to make 100% sure that I get another bike and all the hospital and dr bills paid also they are gonna have to step up and pay for all my lost wages and pain and suffering too because this is not fun at all!!!
g-rod 04-24-2008, 11:04 PM glad to hear ur not in too bad of shape........sorry bout the bike..
and for the whole blacking out thing..luckily havent had it happen on a bike yet (knock on wood)...but I was racing the quad, and went over a double, and the nose was down..I remember trying my hardest to pull it up and get the back end down.....but yep bailled off right before impact....next thing I know woke up in the ER...
Boatski313 04-25-2008, 07:23 AM I have something similar with the black out.
Where we used to ride our quads was off a highway. When we were done I went down the road to dry off. On the way back a car almost clipped me. I turned real quick and hit something where we were parked. I flipped around a few times. Didn't touch my head. I lay there for a bit and stand up. I can't see anything for a few seconds and my vision was all white and nothing else.
6ixxerGixxer 04-25-2008, 08:17 AM close calls are a dime a dozen.... good luck in your quest to stay safe.
