Shoua 04-26-2008, 09:45 PM I'll explain. It was more embarrassing than anything, as about 15 people I knew saw me do it. :headshake I feel stupid, as I've only had this brand new bike for a month and a half.
I was at church, and some friends and I were outside talking about bikes. I got on my bike to show one of my friends on how I work the throttle. Then when I went to set it down, I forgot to put the kickstand down! :infrandom I went right on over, all the way down. I fell on my hip bone, and since I'm a skinny guy, it still hurts.
My bike was okay. I have the have-to-cut-your-brand-new-fairings Yoshimura frame sliders and swingarm spools, so they both took most of the fall. I did scratch the mirror and the tail (I took off the passenger pegs which would've saved the tail) a little bit, but nothing too bad.
I did bend my clutch lever though. I came home and took it off and straigtened it, but the end was still bend outward a little. So I took a rag and some pliers and CAREFULLY tried to bend it back a little, when SNAP! There goes the end. I guess I'll be ordering new levers a little sooner than I'd wanted to.
Oh well. First oops is out of the way now. Pictures:

rrninjaboy 04-27-2008, 02:57 AM Just so you know you're not the first to do something of the nature! I too will admit it like you! I did it on my 02 ZX6R. But, mine was in my garage and actually made a nice hole in my wall. I had came in from riding and my daughter was running up to me as I pulled in. Well, she was 3 at the time so I was telling her to stay back. I got sidetracked with her and actually dismounted the bike to the right side and just let it go. I thought I had put the kickstand down. But, when it hit the wall and then the floor I realized otherwise. It's all good! I'd rather have dropped my bike than have my daughter hurt.
Whitebread 04-27-2008, 05:31 AM If that's the worst that happened you're in pretty good shape. Now you've got an excuse for some shorty levers.
nater 04-27-2008, 07:57 AM That looks like a pretty inexpensive tip-over (as far as tip-overs go). Looks like a little touch-up paint and a lever and you will be good to go. Does your mirror wobble now? Someone hit my mirror in the parking lot and that caused it to vibrate while going down the road. Some people's kids... . . Drove me crazy. $120 later, I had a new one that did not vibrate.
KBorne 04-27-2008, 08:33 AM wow bro, yeah at least it wasnt too expensive. As you saw mine was a bit more expensive. Damn bikes are like Legos, all the cool ones are basically super expensive pieces of plastic. I will be ordering sliders myself today :)
little white nail polish and a blue sharpie will have her lookin brand new again, the guys that mounted my new tires sctracthed the shit out of my rims and I just took a blue sharpie and went over it you cant even tell unless your up close! goodluck!
Shoua 04-27-2008, 09:05 AM I don't feel so bad now. Well, I accidently made a shorty lever out of my clutch lever, but I've already got some shorty Pazzo levers on order.
My mirror is fine, no wobbles. Just some little scratches. I still feel like an idiot though. And lots of people saw me do it.
Whitebread 04-27-2008, 03:18 PM I was cruising down the road the other night and hit the kill switch when I meant to turn on the high beam. How that happens when they're on opposite clip ons I don't know. I've put 10k on that bike so it's not like it's unfamiliar. Point is everybody f*cks up occasionally, regardless of experience. Be thankful you were standing still and didn't crack a fairing.
It's not like you made an ass of yourself by looping a gixxer 1k on national tv......
Shoua 04-28-2008, 01:13 PM My frame sliders totally already paid for themselves. If I didn't have them, my fairings would have been toast, and most likely my mirror as well.
M_Easy 04-28-2008, 01:29 PM Glad you survived your crash unharmed.
:infrandom Shit happens, man. Don't sweat it. Very inexpensive drop, it looks like, except for the repair of your cool points with your friends, unless you're like me and don't have any anyway.
SILVERK5 04-28-2008, 02:29 PM You are now ready to take off with your disk-lock still on
(which is probably the 2nd most common blunder).
Shoua 04-28-2008, 10:18 PM Yeah, it's something the friends will never forget.
I thought my first time down would be all by myself, or so I was hoping. They actually thought I was crushed, but since I'm pretty skinny, I just pulled my leg out from under it. But my hip still hurts...
jmtx86 05-04-2008, 04:39 PM could have been worse. . . .
cpreasha 05-04-2008, 04:49 PM Been there done that.... and had an audience as well.
On my first bike, 2000 R1.... At Mid-Ohio!
Parked my bike in the grass without a puck! Fell over and cracked the fairing, even with the frame sliders on and just got a custom paint job less than a week before that.
GsxRmAsteR 05-14-2008, 01:22 PM eek..... have you fixed all these yet? at least you're doing alright! gl!
killer-bee 05-14-2008, 02:04 PM That suxs but i know people who have done it
Shoua 05-14-2008, 11:13 PM All fixed up except for the scarred tail piece. I'm going to get some touch-up paint for it.
redamo20 05-16-2008, 10:09 AM I've done that before,i grabbed it, but i couldn't lift it up, so i just settled mine down easy.
