if you use simple green, dont get it on your rotors. I use WD-40 in a SOFT tooth brush to get the stubborn spots in the lettering (be careful not to get WD-40 on your rotors either) and bug and tar remover on a rag for the spokes and large surfaces. I only use the bug and tar remover every so often because it will remove the wax that i apply in the next step. Then take a wax and applicator and use it like i would on a fairing. (wax on, wait, wax off) The extra effort with the wax is worth it becuase the next 2-3 times you wash your bike, all you need to do is wipe the wheels with a rag and they look good as new :yumyum: Hope this helps! Good Luck

I know this may sound hard to believe, but I use motor oil on my rims to get them clean. It provides a nice thin coat to make the next cleanup extemely easy. Just be very careful to not get any on your tires.

I like WD-40, or there are many cleaners like Honda Bright and similar stuff.

Honda polish  Repackaged as Next Dimension polish I think.

Honda polish  Repackaged as Next Dimension polish I think. WD40 ? Simple Green ? never would of and never will think of using those. Honda polish or plexus which ever is wiping down the bike. After washing the bike a fast spin drys the bike and the water slinging off the rotars and drying on the rims leaving spots has to be wiped off. Just some honda spray polish on a rag takes the spots off. WD40 is going to hold the brake dust and simple green or wd40 isn't anything I'd want near my tires. Especially wd40 near the brakes. Honda polish works the best. It's called SPRAY CLEANER & POLISH which is printed just like above on the can located at any honda dealer. Black can and top with text in white background with pinkish red print.

I use WD 40 on the whole rim. It is conveinent and I always have some laying around. I am just careful not to get it on my brake pads or rotors.

so is the only disadvvantage to wd 40 is it making the rotors slippery? Or is there something else i am missing?

It's a wheel, not a rim. I use any of those biodegradable cleaners like Simple Green. Sometimes I use Motorex 411 as well.

I do like Simple Green and the Honda Spray cleaner and polish. Just keep it off the tire and brakes. I've been using both for years. Or good old soap and water with wax will work if you don' want to buy extra products/
