Selden man dies in motorcycle crash

A 21-year old Selden man died Tuesday afternoon after he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a landscaping truck on Route 25 in Selden.
Police said Scott Dewitt Jr. was riding his 2005 Suzuki eastbound on Route 25 when he lost control and slammed into the 1993 Ford landscaping truck, which was traveling westbound. The collision happened at about 2:30 p.m., police said.
Dewitt was taken to University Hospital at Stony Brook where he was pronounced dead, police said. Police didn't say what kind of injuries Dewitt sustained from the crash.
The truck driver, Giovanni Martinelli, 22, of Centereach, was not injured.
Police impounded both vehicles for safety checks.
