i used search and didn't find anything for CT specificly. i don't know if this belongs here either... and i know there are insurance threads but every state is different in quotes so i'm lookin for more local info.. i have a k1 600. i'm 20. no points or violations and i insure my bike in CT. i'm wondering in ur experience wats the cheapest/best insurance. i'm currently using dairyland through Autocycle in hartford (wethersfield) i plan on paying in full up front and not monthly payments. unfortunately i need comprehensive for it being garaged in boston, ma. i currently pay $473/yr without comprehensive and with comp. its around $950/yr. (thats garaged in small town in CT) any ideas? is $950 a good deal?

you're young so chances are you are going to get raped in most cases, but it is an older bike, so shop around a bit. try gieco and progressive just to see where they put you, then maybe talk to some underwriters and see if they can run your info with a few companies. if it were me, i would keep comprehensive considering the vulnerability of sportbikes to theft. $950 isnt a good deal, but its not that bad either. shop around and i bet you can knock a couple hundred dollars off the premium. good luck

in anyone's experience, does it make a difference price-wise what usage you select? like for pleasure/commuting, etc. its hard to tell what things affect the price and what don't cause they just give me one number on these websites. i tried geico and got a quote of $452/$935 tried progressive and got $389/$759 !!! i was looking to see if there were smaller/cheaper companies like my last one (autocycle/dairyland) but my last quote was $473/$950!!! lol looks like progressive is the way to go. i don't really know what's covered for comprehensive because its registered in CT but i have an apartment in Boston, MA. it says that an address in boston is invalid as a storage address. anyone else college age and have this two-state dilemma? i want it covered in case of theft but its not worth the $400 if they're just going to say "well it wasn't in CT when it got stolen, so..."

I do know people that have had success, especially those with clean records, going with underwriters. as far as comprehensive is concerned, your best bet is to talk to a rep for whatever company you are considering, and have them give you the lowdown on things like your "two-state dilemma". there are so many college students in this country, i'm sure they have delt with it in the past. if it were me, i would just list my address as my actual home.
