Can someone tell me that and secondly how reliable is a GSXR. Geez I ask a simple question and my thread gets closed. You guys are to uptight. I don't know if I'm getting the bike for sure which is why in the intro section I said "most likely" , I would appreciate opinions so stop closing the thread. If its in the rules to not get opinions then please say so. If I knew 100% I was getting the bike I wouldn't be asking the questions. I know nothing about gsxr and I'm just looking for opinions. Give me a break I'm not breaking any rules

Hey hows it going?I havent had my Gsxr too long yet so I cant say how it will be long term but Im sure adding the new irridium spark plugs has me all set now.I bought an 05 750 with about 1900 miles on it.Noticed that it was acting funny around idle and low steady speed. I did the plugs and its nice and smooth now. I really like this bike very much.It has some great qualities from what I can see. It starts easy, idles fine ,has very nice handling and goes like hell :).I dont know which size or year you are looking at but the 750 was a good choice for me.I have the stock exhaust but added a BMC air filter.I think they are very decent in stock form but you can add upgrades as you go along.Im very happy with mine.Hope you decide to get one to.Which one have you been thinking about ? By the way , theres nothing wrong with getting a used one .. Mine is like this one here>>http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2005models/2005-Suzuki-GSX-R750.jpg

I have had mine for a little over a year and have never had any problems. Make sure you take good care of it though, oil changes, tune ups, etc. I laid it down and messed it up good. I put her all back together and she started right up. I dont think it matters what brand you get for reliability as long as you take care of it. Good luck

Its an 05 gsxr 600 with 3800 miles. He's selling it for $3,900 so I thought I might get since its a great price and even if I don't care for it which I doubt I figure I can always sell it for more. Of the the fairings has a few scratches but thats about it.

SUP, gomsu523 (AKA SONYAB523)...I'm on the CBRforum too for my F4i. I love the Honda but honestly doesn't compare to the GSXR. I now know why the F4i never got any love on reviews...it's really an entry level sportbike. I love the mid range on the F4i, nice and easy on the throttle till over 7k then its a rocket. The gixxer is just all around smoother - on gears, throttle, a$$ pad (F4i seat SUCKS on long rides). Just to name a few. Long term I have no idea which bike will hold up better. Dude on that Honda site has over 100k miles on the same engine so I hope to get that on the GSXR..we'll see. BTW - Give this site a chance. Tons of good info and people here...MUCH better then other zuki sites i've been on. :D

I have had 4 gixers and never a problem. (Unless I caused one lol ) I sold my 87 1100 in 92, she had over 25,000 miles. nothing ever broke or let go! I kept up with her though, oil /filter changes, valve adjustments, tires, chains, sprockets, bearings, wires, coils. I crashed a 92 a year after buying it. I bought another in 94, had 5 grand on her, lots of work done and she ran like an animal for 10 grand more. Again, only routine maint. I sold it in 99. I have had my 06 1000 for 2 years now and she hasn't given me any trouble. Considering that I ride hard for at least 75% of my saddle time. I'd say they are more dependable then expected. That plus her track record is why I am loyal to GSXRs.

I put 15,000 miles on my 05 600 in one year. I had one problem - the starter button wore out. It was replaced under warranty with a starter button from an 04 because on the 05 it shut off the headlight while starting, so when the starter button went bad, the headlight would occassionally turn off, which was problematic if you were riding at night...

Have not really had any issues on either the bikes I have owned besides the kick stand switch going back and causing the bike to die and then re-start while riding, no biggie.

'05 GSXR600 with only 3,800 for $3,900 is a good deal. My '07 is the only GSXR I've owned but, with almost 12,000 miles, I've only had one problem. That being one of the air-dam screens falling out. I, like others, have kept up with the maintenance and I'm sure that helps, but I think this bike is a pretty good machine.

Maintanence is key to keeping anything around for a good while. As for dependabily the gsxr is great. I told mine when I picked her up from the shop, "dont drop me, and I wont drop you" she has not let me down yet, and I have had a couple of close calls, calls where I would be like how did I survive that.:shifty

I bought my 06 1000 back in Nov of 05 new, off of the showroom floor. It has only gone in to the shop for regularly scheduled maintenance and for another 2 times for problems. I have gone through 4 sets of tires, as I usually get 10k on the Met. Z6's that I am totally sold on for this bike. I don't do track days, but I do run it hard on the street and I have 1/4" or less of chicken strip. I am now on my 3rd chain 20k per chain with a weekly spray of WD40. The bike is totally stock and it runs as good today as it did on day 1. My bike has close to 46k on it now and I will be heading out on the 27th for another 2500 mile roadptrip to Colorado. The 2 problems that I ran in to were 1 fork seal replacement at 43K and the other was a efi computer replacement under warranty as it limped me home 600 miles during a roadtrip. Limped = under 120 mph...
