What's up guys and girls. I live in Killeen and am not a soldier believe it or not but was in the Corps a while back. I moved here a while ago to live with family. I just got a K7 a month ago and have been trying to find people to ride with but don't know many people here except friends of the family one of which recently wrecked my bro in laws bike and one other dude that rides but has his hands full with his kids lately. Anyone up to ride let me know at jln85259@yahoo.com.

Believe it or not I've lived in Copperas Cove for 34yrs and I've never been in the Army either. I rarely ride the street, maybe once or twice per month. I can't stand all the gay ass sportbike clubs in this area, must be at least 12 clubs I can think of for a town of 100,000 people. Plenty of very nice twisty roads within an hour drive of the area, some only 10-20 minutes from Killeen. Limecreek Rd in Austin has a stretch that's 6.5 miles long with 85 turns and is voted top 25 most technical roads in the U.S. for a motorcycle. I mainly do trackdays and race at the various road courses/tracks in Texas (there's 7 road course tracks within 4hrs of Killeen and 3 of them are 1.5-2hrs away). I'm getting out of trackdays and racing in a couple months, just sold one of my race bikes this past weekend and will sell the 750 shortly after the last race in Oct. You can't miss me if you saw me on the street, I ride an 02 GSXR600 black with yellow (killer bee style) with Joe Rocket Corona Jacket and always a Suomy helmet and black backpack. I dont' ride in groups of more than 3-4 and usually very experienced/kneedragger riders only, however, I don't mind stopping and talking to a rider and giving directions to some good roads, where to avoid riding, tips/tricks for their bikes. Welcome to the central Texas area, tons of good, year round riding, just avoid the sportbike club scene and you'll be fine because they are more into pimping and pimp strolling instead of riding and they call go around Stan Schlueter Loop going for a ride. There are always little groups going for rides on Saturdays an Sundays in the mornings/afternoons...problem is that I've been out of touch with street riding so much that I dont' know where they meet up anymore. It used to be Cat Customs on Rancier but that's pretty much died altogether. I dont' think there's really a weekend bike hangout anymore in Killeen like there used to be years ago where on Sunday morning and afternoon you could find anywhere from 10 to 75 bikes easily at Cat Customs all day. By the way, if you meet some guys and they take you for a ride, they will more than likely take you to Holland (all roads out there have sketchy surfaces), Youngsport (aka: FM2484) which has sketchy surface that weeps oils on the hottest days and is heavily patrolled by state troopers and sheriffs. You could probably put together an entire bike if you walked along the side of FM2484. Other roads local groups will take you to is Oakalla which fun but not at sunset...too many deer. Maxdale is scenic but not to blast through because of deer and zero margin of error as there are zero shoulders and barbed wire fences everywhere and gravel in certain spots. Topsey Rd is very sketchy as far as road surface goes. FM580 after Topsey Rd is greasy on hot summer days and deer in the evening, also barbed wire lined. Best roads are towards Lake Travis, south of Austin towards Kyle, Wimberly, and San Marcos. Burnet area has Park Rd 4 which is very fun but dont try to get funny and run from the law on that road because there's one way in and one way out for about 20-25 miles so you will get caught. Hwy 29 in Burnet has lots of connecting sweepers but is very crowded on the weekend with lake traffic. The all around best roads are north and west of Gatesville. Like I said, I've lived here for 34 years so there isn't a good road for at least 75 miles of here I don't know about. On a side note, if you are ever in the Belton area, stop by Jalisco del Sol on North Main...best chips and salsa

Ride to Hico and get some pie. Plenty of crooked roads from Gatesville, to Turnersville, through Cranfills Gap and into Hico, you'll see all the bikes.

Also, plan a weekend to head down to Kerrville. Ride Hwy 16 to Medina, 337 to Vanderpool, to Leakey to Camp Wood, 335 to Hwy 41 down 336, then follow 187 up to 39 back into Kerrville, you won't be disappointed.

I'll be the only one on an 02 GSXR600 in full leathers kneedragging between Temple and Oenaville. I remember about 8+ years ago when the road between Belton and Holland (I think FM1123 to Summers Mill) was butter smooth and not just chip sealed like it is today. Limecreek Rd in Austin was also better than riding on a track 8+ years ago. There were no houses and not even a crack on Limecreek Rd. Today it's multimillion dollar homes and tar snakes everywhere. I have some good video back in the day of us kneedragging through there.
