Where do I Start. A friend and I went out to the local bike shop here in Japan on Saturday night so that he could buy some new grips for his bike (that he will never be installing on his bike). We were getting ready to leave when he was like can I ride your GSXR. I was thinking we are only about 10 miles from the military base what could go wrong. So I threw him and keys my my GSXR and he threw me the keys to his CBR. Ok here goes, We were going back to the base going really fast and splitting traffic (I know that it is wrong but all the bikes here in Japan do that). We were about 1 mile from the base and he was riding on the left side next to the curb and I was riding in the middle of the road. Were were approaching a green light but there was van in the middle so he was going to go around the left side and I was going to go around the right side. My friend told me that we were going somewhere around 80 to 90MPH. Then right out of no where the B_t_ch :2hard in the van desides that she wanted to make a right hand turn (with no blinker) when I was about 20 yards behind her. I had 2 choices hit her or go over in the other lane and hit a car head on. So I laid the bike down and it slid under the van (picking the van's rear wheels off of the ground, look at the pics). I slid on my left side, just missing a car, all the way to the side walk on the other side of the road. I am ok but I cant say the same for his bike, my leathers, and my helmet. My knee and Ribs are real sore and swollen. She told the police that she did not have a blinker on, But they said it was my fault (which I knew it was) wreakless driving and 2fast for conditions. I bet that she is going to try to sue me. She had to go to the hospital for a possabilty of a concusion and whiplash, But I walked away (imagine that). My friend had full coverage insurance so he was not mad. He wanted a new bike anyway. I told him that he could install the grips on his new bike  . I guess that the moral of the story is no matter how close you are riding, ride with your gear on. I am so glad that I did. Hope you like the pics Danny http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b158/dannyandjamie/IMG_0090.jpg My friend pushing his bike out of the road http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b158/dannyandjamie/IMG_0078.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b158/dannyandjamie/IMG_0069.jpg Notice the GSXR passing by, He did not even stop to ask if I was ok

Yeow, good thing you're alright. So splitting lanes at high speeds is "normal" in Japan? Are there a lot of bikers in Japan? -Jason

wow! thats tough! i got taken out by a taxi a few years ago in shinjuku, who saw a customer and got so excited he forgot to signal or look. down i went (wet road) the bike slid into a parked truck snapping both the forks, i rolled up in between the parked truck and taxi and came out of it with a sore wrist. the taxi was found to be in the wrong. they paid the total repair fee. and for me to attend a massage therapist everyday for three months till my wrist was better. then they added a 50$ a visit levy on top for the inconvenience of me having to go!!! i was well pleased!! hope everything works out for you. im suprised you coped the deal you did. before you sign any of the cops papers check with legal advice first. it may be too late but if you sign your done. if you dont you can fight the decision in court.

that's just an imperfection...it'll buff right out  man that looks nuts!!! its crazy how the events unfold in your favor tho huh? i mean, it COULD'VE been MUCH worse..any minor change in the scenario (i.e. wet pavement, no gear, etc. etc.) could've produced a far worse outcome...glad you're alright man
