Don't know the qty on the 01. My 06 is 3 1/2 qts. Biggest thing is have the bike level and not on a rear stand to check it, if it is the oil will run forward any you'll end up over servicing it.

I know my friends 06 1k is 3liters. My 600 is 2.2 liters.

Actually, doesn't it say it on the side of your crank case?

if with the FILTER change, need to fill 2.5 liter and 2.2 Liter if WITHOUT filter change. don't overfill it, Wanna check, fill it up as the amount stated above, then let start the bike for few minutes (warm up, aleast 5 min) then turn it off, let it cool down for 3 min, then have some1 level the bike ( if you wanna see the window), look at the window it has to be in middle L and H . hope it helps.

u should be able to see the level through the window with 3 qts,

AS above...at 3qts you should see it in the window. But, just to clarify, as stated above you want the bike level on two planes.....front to back and side to side. Meaning no rear stand or side stand. Stand the bike upright on level ground and check the level.
