Hey so anyone here in Houston a recruiters for the navy or army? I have a friend who's ex wants to go into the navy and she has a BS in math and the best her recruiters wants to do for her is send her in as an E3 which sounds crazy to me. With a BS in Math she should defiently be an Officer.

If she went enlisted she would be an E4 for the Army. There are a lot of additional requirements for officers so she may be disqualified and not want to tell you why. OR the recruiter is lazy and doesnt want to do the extra paper work.

If she wants to be an officer then she needs to go through an Officer Program. Meaning OCS, or ROTC. But a Recruiter will not tell her about that stuff because he is trying to make a quota. So she should look into Officer Candidate School or ROTC, which is a college officer program.

A recruiter can get her into OCS, but ROTC has to go through the college. Either program would make her a Lieutentant upon graduation. OCS is quicker and she cant do ROTC because she already has her degree. But I can only speak on Army programs, I dont know about the Navy.

I'm in the process of joining the navy and from my experience if you go to an enlisted recruiter that will happen. You have to go to a officer recruiter and speak with them directly. Recruiters memory gets very selective when it comes time for you to sign up!!
