2003 gsxr-1000 vs 2005

i have a 2003 gsxr-1000,stock it made 141hp on a dyno in oklahoma,not sure what the alltitude was,but it was a 90 degree humid day,,after JE 12.5 piston's yosh drop in cam's,power commander,brock exuast..it made 157hp i think it's enough to run with the 2005,,,haven't been outrun yet on the street,,killing busa's,,and other 1000 is no problem....... :thumbup:

but seriously my bike is stock other than -1 on the front... and a tre......it has been a 9.90@144.02 with a 1.79 60ft....it has more in it.usually 60's in the low 1.6 range......heck it even pulled 118mph in the 8th..with a 205lb suited rider........but i do outrun just about everything on the street...had a full built busa and a build r1 pull me up top......but it was close thru a 1/4.....

I have an o5 1000 w/ k&n thats it, kicking 154.3 hp

i raced a power commanded/full exhaust/ geared 05 zx10 last week and he was right at 200lbs suited..and i got him 5 out of 5 times... :D here is a pic of my 1000

Nice mods! I'm new to the whole suzuki world but I wouldda thought that the '03 had more hp stock. I had no idea they jumped up that much hp in 2 yrs, damn I should be happy I guess uh. :clap: How do you think an '01 will hang with my '05 ? Just curious, when my bike is broken in fully I'll let you guys know. I'm curious by how much you think I'll walk away from him.

well i dont know about 01's but ive raced a bunch of 03/04's and i usually get 6-8 bikes on them from a slow 1st gear roll....thru top of 4th....thats about a 1/4 mile....

I think mine is the only 03 around here that has staied closer to 1000k5 that has posted in this thread. but stock for stock the 05 roll on the top end, and it does have alot to do with ridder and weight. being I weigh in a 227 suited and am 6'3" I will be alil slower then a jokey. mines stock like his with a tre and -1 in the front. all dynos are not the same and location makes a big diffrence and the type of dyno. all in all the 05 is lighter and has more cc's and should be faster. I would hope they would make it faster being its a new bike.

Do you guys know, they make bikes more powerfull for euro market? I don't know about other brands, but suzuki does. 01 1000 160hp stock. Don't know about newer models tho. Just imagine...

same old thing,,who's dyno,,what dyno,,what alltitude...big differance from different dyno's...

160hp stock power 01 1000 brand new. No dynos...Just from specifications

maybe there talking about engine horsepower,,not rear wheel,,,like the 2005 gsxr-1000 before it came out,i was reading about 180plus ..oh well,,use the dyno to tune,and forget about differant magazine's claimed horsepower......

I know that as a fact. Also, there is a guy around here with 01 1000 from GB with 180hp with just a few mods. What I was thinkingis get european ECU for my model and gain those extra 17hp with no other mods instantly. I'm from europe and my brother live there, so no problem with getting it. But I have to do more research first.

If the 180 hp is to the rw, i would have to see because a busa that is built better good w/o spraying does 181. to the rear wheel. It is hard to believe that a 1000 stock will do that.

All I know is, stock gearing is a little better on the 01 for the street, feels like it pulls harder even though the 05 has more power...Im sure if you had 2 equal riders the 05 should be a tad bit faster, but not much, I already ripped an 05 1k but the guy was a squid and I rode the bike so i know he was...nice bike though, would be my next.... :thumbup:
