rev411 07-24-2005, 11:01 AM o.k. so I go to my first track day at Barber's yesterday and see fassina before the day starts, kinda cool to put a face with the name. He says he's done a couple and did't really know how the day would as far as speed, so gets in the b-group. We start out slow, learning lines and body positions. 3rd session we get to pass the instructor so he can watch us and give constructive criticism.I wasn't to sure about passing other people, when I see this blue bike with 819 on the tail blow by me. So i followed his lines, pretty smooth. Didn't see you after lunch dude, what happened?
All in all was a good day, was about 95 degrees and the tires would stick to the side all a wall! 3 of us went, R1,CBR100,and my 1K. At the end (we had a guy with a stop watch) our best times were R1-2:15,CBR-2min,1K-2:05. My bike was def the fastest of the three but i couldn't get a few of the corners dialed just right. It was the first track day for us, and def not the last. Anyone who wants to know what their bike was made for.....
TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, my name is Myke and I'm addicted to track :D
Motojoe_23 07-24-2005, 11:45 AM come on down to Jennings sometime, its a hell of alot cheaper, nice track surface, and no elevation change, so you can work on just tecnique instead of elevation at the same time.
I plan on getting to Barber sometime soon, but want to spend a few more days at flat tracks like jennings, talladega nad roaebling road.
Only been on the track one time so far, and turned right at 1:30 at jennings. am guys run around 1:25 racing to be midpack.

TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, my name is Myke and I'm addicted to track :D
Man, I tried to get over to your pit area. I had a bunxh of my friends show up that i didnt think were coming. I did ride over there at Lunch but i think you were riding in the 2up session or at least I thought that was you that I passed in the paddock. I came by after the next to the last session to talk and say bye but you were out on the track. The first two sessions sucked but after they let us go it was was pretty fun. You did great! For your first track day you were pretty fast. Imade it around the track in a few session and made it back to you. I followed you for a while a couple of times and your lines were pretty good. I think every time that I passed you was in braking....it was pretty tough getting around you on the straights.
It was so F#^%ing HOTT. I did my last session at 3:00 and called it quits. I thought I was going to have a heat stroke. Miranda was there....hated that you guys didnt get to meet up. I got in trouble twice for passing within 6ft. or whatever that rule was. My Instuctor was pretty funny...he was like dont listen to them you guys just do what is comfortable. He said you guys can go as fast as you want ..just go ahead and pass me after the first turn. So Lavone (the Red CBR 600) took off and pretty much were riding together. He video taped me one session and is putting it up on his web site. I will link it on here when it is up. Before I left and main instructor came over to my pit area and said I wasnt allowed in the b group....so that made me feel better. My laps times (with a stop watch) was around 1:48 so it really was probably a few seconds slower.
You guys were super cool! I wish I had more time to talk but having to go to that damn meeting every session made thing very tight. Please let me know the date that you guys are going to Deal's Gap. I will meet up with you guys somewhere. Def. nice to put a face with a name.
I bet you have gotten faster in one track day than you have in the last year!
Becareful.....see you at the next track day.
rev411 07-24-2005, 03:24 PM Yeah my front brakes are shot, after lunch every time I got on them hard the front would just shake up and down(maybe they just got hot I'm not sure, that was another riders opinion). My braking is something else I want to work on next time.
The guy on the red CBR( Lavone?) was giving me hell in the corners, if he got some footage I would like a copy, I'll pay him if need to. They made mention of you in the last meeting of how some people "we won't mention names but they had a big 819 on their blue suzuki, should have been in the intermediate group" they laughed,no big deal, I guess they could tell you could ride.
We may have scratched the gap, we found out you can rent Talladega for around $1100 for 10 people, on Mondays I think.
if we do it I'm sure you will be down for that
I got SO much faster in that day. Since we've had our daughter I always ride in the back, nice to cut loose with no worries! Was good to meet you, will def see you at the next one
04StreetGSXR 07-24-2005, 04:56 PM where are these tracks located at there i nothing around where i live

Hell yeah! I am down for renting the track. I will pm you my number. If you guys are ever back in town and are staying over night....I have a spare bed and couch. Save you some $$$, I live about 5 miles from the track. We can hit up 29 dreams. Did they really mention me.....I thought that I was going to get in trouble. I tried my hardest to stay away from people but they sure did not want to stay away from me. Every time I took the inside or outside (opposite the race line) they would come over on me. I know one person complained but oh well...they are going to have to get used to it sooner or later. Lavon's website is www.lavonbeard.com - he said it would be up Tuesday. Again you did great..next time there you will be a tremendous amout faster than this time. Give me a call about renting out the track. See ya Shaun

I have never experienced heat like that. It was so hott that I could not get cooled down and I had a towel sitting inthe cooler that I ring out all over me every session. By the next to the last session I had a hard time getting going on the track so I just called it a day. I def. want to get to VIR soon! I will check and see when the next few track days are.
ZgixxeR 07-26-2005, 03:06 PM I stopped by too. It was so freaking hot, I couldn't imagine being in full leathers out there all day. Too bad we didn't get to meet. Oh well, I have to get some leathers before I commit suicide.
