met some guy 2day close to where i live and we decided to go do some riding, long story short we decided 2 line them up. He was on an 03' Honda 954 and i'm thinking this dudes gonna rip me to shreds, and so it began. a total of 6 dead stop drags and he only got me one time b/c i missed 2nd, the other five times i was puttin about 4 bikes on him and the distance was just shy of a 1/4 mile, but i felt like the man today..my 03' alstare 600 tearin up that 954....felt good it's been a while since i had some good street runs. i'm still smilin over the whole thing, i'm sure all my mods helped me out too especially my gearing changes, or maybe i was just the better rider 2day. just thought i'd share my story...later bro's, KRUM :D IT WAS A SUZUKI DAY DOWN HEAR

rkrummel01
10-17-2004, 12:51 PM
i'm going to meet up w/ him in a few minutes for some twisty action, then maybe some more racing. K....i would put about a half a bike on him in the first 30 feet and after that the gap would always open so i'd say i was ahead of him at just about all times. the only 2 times that i wasn't was the time i missed 2nd and one time he put about a bike on me off the jump and i had caught him by about 70mph, coming outta first and then finished about 20 feet infront of him.

we hit some twisties 2day fun as hell i must say, i almost smoked a racoon, that might have sucked. anyway to the issue at hand. He brought it up this time and wanted to do some more friendly racing and we wen't to an abandoned personal airport about 25 minutes outside of the city. it's where all the imports race so they had 1/4 mile lines sprayed out, it was pretty sweet i had never actually been there b4. we only got to do 4 runs. 1st three runs i crossed first by about one bike lenght, a half bike and then about too bikes infront, so i was feeling good. we would shoot the breeze and let the bikes cool down b4 attempting more runs. 4th run...He got the jump on me off the line and we where about 1/2 way down the run and he was about a bike infront of me but i was coming up on him quick and then blam i blew passed him like he was setting still, I got to the end of the run and was turning around and i seen him toss his helmet about 30 feet threw the air, so i cruised back over and seen what had happened...his chain popped and when it did it flew up and demolished the lower part of his fairing, that was gonna be a close race, i felt bad for him so i called my buddy w/ the truck to come and pick the bike up for him and get it back to his house...so all in all i'm still beating an 03' 954 which is awesome for me and i've got a new riding buddy as soon as he gets his bike back up to par. Just thought i'd share my updated story w/ yall and now i'm going to finish watching the saints game....later bro's....KRUM :burnout:

Something was deffinatly wrong with that 954 or the rider. I had a 929 and it was fast as hell with 129hp out of the box at the rear tire. Now the 954 has ten more hp at the rear wheel and is noticably faster. If you beat him on a 600, he was a really bad rider and/or that 954 was having major engine problems. Trust me, a gix 750 of the same year was just bearly fast enough to keep up with a 954 from a dead start. Just look at the difference in torque between the 954 and the 750...or the 600!! You race his 954 and let him race your 600 and then see where you end up. 04 750 has 127hp at rear wheel. 2002 CBR954RR Dyno http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/dyno-2002-hon-cbr954rr.gif 2003 600cc bikes dyno http://www.sportrider.com/features/146-0306-comp-hp-zoom.jpg

I've raced a busa when I was on an F4i and I stomped the busa, thats exactly why we all said that it was rider skill. if you're beating his 954 with a gix 6 there's got to be something wrong with his bike. Either that or he's just very unfamiliar with the clutch. Ya, you should be happy that you beat a 954 but still, if you go up against a properly working one with a expirienced rider you're going to get smoked. I beat a guy on a 03 gsx-r 600 with my 01 katana 600, ya, a katana. I can only pull about 12.0's or so but this guy stunk so I wipped him. Now should I say that my katana is faster than ALL 600's, obviously no, it's just faster than that 600 with that rider. And as far as reliabiliy goes nothing beats a Honda, for stunting the 954 is the best you can get, they just keep on going.

to add about the cams have you dynoed your bike (with/with out cams?) also whats the site you got those from???(how much$$ if you dont mind me askin) the difference it made was amazing, it's more so mid-range power, pulling that front wheel up at 90mph, as for the dyno i haven't had a chance to get it back over there since the installation, but i should have some results by early april, as for where to get them, any local bike shop can order them threw yosh and there gonna run about $750.00 (cams) and if you get them to do the install that oughta be about another $400.00, simple weekend project to tackle yourself though. later bro, KRUM

readin this thread made me think of this kid my buddy used ride withs 01-02 ish harley soft tail. he had some work done and he could hang bike to bike with a 954 until about 130 and the honda would start to gain. from what i understand the kid on the 954 was a fairly seasoned rider to.

Great job though, showin up a liter class bike on a 'lil gixxer. :laughingr  :arsenal WELL, here is my story and this happend just this weekend, I have a 02 954 with a full hindle exhaust(no other mods) and i whipped the brakes off the 05 750 zuki with a rider who supposed to have more riding time than me...i have over 20 yrs riding plus i'm overweight, he is about 2 yrs younger plus about 50 lbs lighter and i pulled him all day thru curves & straightaways. He might have gotten left even further but i run into traffic, i look down once and i was at unlegal speeds and all i saw was a small light.....if u need proof, i'll get another zuk rider to vouch he rides an 01 1000 and he will not pull beside me..but I understand he's only had his bike 1 yr . moral: Never put down a liter bike, it is capable even if the rider is not...it's the rider not the bike...even thosev 600 are wickedly fast, and u will get surprised as to how fast.
