madtrix19 02-20-2009, 07:21 PM I am going to change my oil soon here before spring and where I live I have to order everything online so what oils are you guys finding are better for 07 1000's? Amsoil or Maxima? And of course I need a filter so I am looking for a website that has everything I need to get it done.:headscrat
BenBB 02-21-2009, 05:19 PM I would probably go with amsoil, thats just what i use and i like it.
RI-Gixxer 02-21-2009, 05:51 PM stock filter for sure, amsoil, mobil 1 4t are my top 2 choices.

Why the stock filter over K&N or anything else? I use to have a 01 750 and used the stock, but I never looked into it. Now where I live I have to order and ship everything so that's why I do more research. Thanks!
brads99xtreme 02-27-2009, 02:42 PM i would use stock or napa filter. they have the special valve in it.. kn dont.
davdoc0011 02-27-2009, 02:56 PM Mobil 4 t racing..3.6.or 3.7 Quarts and a wix filter is what i use.
Nice Bike BTW!!
Best Bomb Tech 02-28-2009, 02:05 AM I ride a 6ixxer but Amsoil is the way to go anyway.
dustin03 02-28-2009, 04:34 PM I tell you what with all the research that amsoil does you can't go wrong. Also napa filters are truly one of the best for the price.

AMSOIL does do a lot of testing and is the Largest Manufacturer of Synthetic MotorCycle Oil.
The NAPA Gold filter is a Very good filter, 1359 for a Suzuki.. It is manufactured by WIX whose part # is 51359.
Please read the G2156 Link in our Sig.
The AMSOIL EA Series Filter is the Very Best money can buy, conservatively Rated at 15 Micron Absolute

Is the EAOM109-EA the filter for the 07 k1 as well. Amsoil's site only lists up to 05-06 gsxr's. Also not to be fussy, but I am, how's 10-40 Amsoil synthetic for high altitude? I live above 8,000 and ride all the way to 11,000 plus sometimes.
orangecobra04rob 03-11-2009, 05:04 AM amsoil only way to go !!!!!!!!!!
bbqb4racin 03-11-2009, 09:12 PM Still AMSoil FTW!!
madtrix19 03-22-2009, 01:50 PM Needless to say I decided to go into Napa and get a filter and Amsoil, but my Napa only carries Amsoil 20-50. The old dude who rides a chopper kept telling me that's all he uses, but I replied our bikes aren't alike and 20-50 doesn't seem right. So I ordered the filter from them and went into Walmart where they happened to have on sale Mobil 1 10-40 full synthetic motorcycle oil for $2.50 a quart.:headscrat I bought enough for a few oil changes!

You got Mobil 1 4T, a $9.00 per qt oil for $2.50 ?
The "Old Dude" was right.... For a Harley...

Yup...Walmart happened to have it on sale and I told the rest of my buddies run in and save some $$$. I think between 5 of us we cleaned the shelf out.
And doesn't 20-50 seem a little much for sport bikes??? It's not on the top of the recommended list by Suzuki I know that.
Mister Tee 03-27-2009, 02:30 PM Quote from service manual (K4/K5 750):
".....The recommended viscosity is SAE 10W-40. If an SAE 10W-40 is not available, select an alternative according to the chart on the right."
20-50 is permissible over 14 degrees F, but not recommended.
bustanut 04-23-2009, 08:35 AM i would use stock or napa filter. they have the special valve in it.. kn dont.
that valve you reffer to, is either a bypass valve which allows oil to flow through if your filter is too plugged up or an anti drain back valve not sure on gsxr's, but if a filter is specified for that bike you might want to make sure it has the same functions of the stock filter. maybe the K&N was the wrong filter.
chris22488 05-07-2009, 02:29 AM i use nothing but amsoil and their filters are the best. it captures the smallest microns and just incase i have a magnet on it i bought from ebay. i dont like the kn's because it wont let me use the magnet because of the hex bolt at the end.

You can switch to Synthetic at anytime. No reason not to change at your 1000km service.
