I am looking for a good chain lube that lubricates well and doesn't fly off and make a big mess on the bike. What are you guys using?

Do a search and you will find as I did that an excellent lube for a very good price can be had at Lowes//Dupont with Teflon for around $4.00 which actually cleans the chain as you apply it and adheres very well to the chain.

With a sealed o-ring chain I was told lube is pretty much useless and just makes a mess.

you were told wrong... +1000, your chain will end up breaking off and probably causing you to crash! It happened to my brother because hes a dumb ass and doesn't pay attention to that stuff. Luckily it broke off while we were pulling in a parking lot and not leaned over in a twisty! Don't always take 1 persons word, use this forum to do some research. Theres a lot of guys on here that know what they are talking about and will be more than happy to share information/and knowledge with you  try dupont all purpose just like everyone else will probably tell you on here....works the best and doesn't make a mess. around $3 a can like Spgsxr said..... http://www.gsxr.com/showthread.php?t=62511

I like to use Maxima chain wax. I have used the dupont as well, but prefer Maxima chain wax.

Ok well then maybe I am sorta not understanding the point of the lube. The chain itself is sealed so the rollers do not need to be lubed (right?) So the lube is more about keeping it from rusting and for where it contacts the sprockets?

So the lube is more about keeping it from rusting and for where it contacts the sprockets? You are correct that the primary role of the chain lube is to lubricate the outer rollers and sprocket contact areas, but the grease sealed inside the chain doesn't last forever. Good chain lube will work its way past the o-rings and get in to the inner rollers as well. So will solvents like kerosene and WD 40. It's best not to immerse the chain in cleaning solvents so you don't prematurely lose the grease inside the chain.

I picked up a scottoiler when i was coming home from my deployment haven't got it hooked up yet but the UK mags give it praises. Check out scottoiler.com. Its an automatic chain oiler that a reservoir hooks up to ur vacuum line and gives ya a drop on ur chain like every min.

Ok well then maybe I am sorta not understanding the point of the lube. The chain itself is sealed so the rollers do not need to be lubed (right?) So the lube is more about keeping it from rusting and for where it contacts the sprockets? Figure this is why. The chain o-rings still need lubing and the lube also has to be good at staying on and being available for at least 300 miles instead of just slinging off like light oils will. The o-rings do slide about the shafts they are on. So they need to be slick or they just burn up. So the lube needs to be something good for rubber and metal. Then the cleaning solvent shouldn't cause problems with the lube. I just use the stuff motorex sells. The 611 cleaner and Racing lube. I trued the Strong lube they sell but it slung off too easy for my liking. I'll never use a light moly or wd40 of any other sort of stuff thats not staying on for the ride. The racing lube is always available and lubing even more when the heat turns up. Don't even think of chain saw lube because it's for low pressures and a joke. A chain whipping your tail while riding isn't funny. Dansto82- does that oiler clean too? Having oil and dirt mixed at the o-rings for extended periods of time can't be too good. Best to make sure you clean the chain at the suggested times.

I go for a 5 minute ride to get the chain warm, throw the bike on the rear stand and use a Motul chain lube to spray the inside of the chain while I rotate the wheel. Then let the lube "dry" up for an hour or so before I ride. This helps keep it from slinging off the chain.
