a dry hop is a mock launch to show you how your bike/car is going to hook up on the take off.
hope this helps both of you:thumbup: PhqOphRacing 02-28-2009, 08:33 AM I personally dont like dry hops, they put unwanted/needed heat in the clutches and ive read that it can crack clutch fibers csd750r 02-28-2009, 08:51 AM I love to "dry hop" my home brewed beer with cascade hops! Vigilante 02-28-2009, 08:54 AM you learn something everyday... i have drag raced cars but not bikes... DOBERDEWD 03-11-2009, 01:03 PM Dry hopping .... Is that anything like dry humping ???? :headscrat

But seriously folks,
I think the true intent of dry hopping is just that, to make sure you have adequate heat in the tires to put the power to the pavement during your launch. Another thing it helps with is clarifying whether or not your straight on your way to the line ... It is also a good indicator of your balance/weight transfer for the launch. You may have to reposition yourself on the bike for a more effective launch ....
DOBERDEWD gixxre750 03-11-2009, 04:19 PM dry hops put lots of additional heat in clutches and take optimum heat out of tire. Notice pro stock bikes quit doing them years ago. Thats why. 07GSXRStrapped 03-12-2009, 10:22 AM Dry Hops are a waste of time and hurt your times as it adds heat into the clutch and is just a waste. If your tire isnt sticky enough then you need to do better burnouts, now on the street yes Dry Hops are a must but I dont call em dry hops I do test launches. | |
