Ok, I looked through all the old threads and didn't find any conversations on this oil, so here goes....... Has or does anyone use Castrol GTX in their bike? If so, whats your 2 cents? I have been running Motorex, but there is two things I don't like about the stuff: 1. Clunky shifting (opposite of smooth:D) 2. 4 quart's cost almost 60 bucks! So a friend who has a lot of experience suggested GTX. He has run it in his GSXR-750Y for years, and his Ducati 996 for a couple. I used Castrol GTX 10w-30 for the past few changes and find it much smoother shifting. No more clunk, more like a click. Whatcha' think? Is GTX Golden? I know it's not Motorcycle oil, but..........:hmmm: Edited for spelling.

I don't care about paying 8-9$ a quart because your depending on that oil for your bike to function properly so I would stick with motorcycle oil!

I thought surly more folks would reply then this!:shifty But People are tired of the whole oil debate thing I suppose. I have been doing some reading and studying. I think this article is real good at explaining oil. http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_0308_oil/index.html

Actually, there are quite a few discussions on this - motorcycle oil vs. non-motorcycle oil. In a nutshell, non motorcycle specific oils normally (but not always) contain friction reducing additives that can cause slippage to wet clutches.

I ran GTX 20-50 in bikes for decades including 3 turbo bikes and built motors and have never had an oil related failure or oil related clutch problem nor did any engine on tear down show any signs of premature wear. I now run synthetic oil just for the hell of it plus in an extreme condition it should hold up a little better but GTX served me well for a long time. BTW we used to by it on sale for .69 cents a quart! :)
