Teflon is the stuff!

Ok, I have to say that I am AMAZED at the strength of Dupont Teflon. I sprayed it on my chain and just watched the old gunk fall off. It was unbelievable. The only question I have for you experts is do you use this as a cleaner only or as your primary lubricant? Teflon is so slick that I wasn't sure if would adhere enough to the chain, so after I put the teflon on I also applied some spray chain wax to be safe. Anyone have a thought on this?

I only use the Dupont Teflon 14K miles and chain is still like new. I like it cause it doesn't sling crap all over my back wheel.

Oh no, just use that as your lube. Teflon is far superior to wax. In fact, I clean my own chain with kerosene every third time, since the stuff will build up over time. It's a good cleaner, but not a perfect one. But it is a perfect chain lube.

Im gonna have to try it out. It's time for a chain cleaning and lube for my bikes. This Dupont Teflon stuff does both at the same time from what I gather?

Yes, it can clean as well, but I still use kerosene once a month or so just to get that deep down clean.

I have an old t-shirt that I use, along with an old toothbrush for the tough spots. I usually pour out a little kerosene onto the shirt and wipe the chain with it until the shirt comes away vaguely clean, then rotate the back wheel to expose a new part of the chain. No need to take the chain off.

I had to bring this back up. I picked up some of this Dupont Teflon today at Lowes, brought it home and right away put the bike up on stands and proceeded to clean/lube the chain. I am amazed at this stuff! It was absolutely astounding, the results I received! First off, the cleaning...immediately started dripping off all of the old gunk on the chain and polished at the same time. As far as lubrication, I can't speak for it...because it's not "visible" on the chain...which is amazing. Some of the spray actually got on my rim, I went to wipe it off and it took off all of the old wax/lube that used to splatter off the chain after a fresh wax/lube. AMAZING product! I took some pictures of the crap it cleared off.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/nemesisdsm/IMG_0152.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/nemesisdsm/IMG_0153.jpg

I use it more as an inbetween cleanear than a lube. For heavy cleanings, I use kerosene.

After cleaning and lubing the chain, I spray some of it on a clean rag and wipe down my white rims with it. Makes cleaning brake dust off easy.

yes, it is. Love the smell (coconut :) lol +1 Been using this for chain lube for a while now. Chain still looks brand new. And no fling. Has anyone tried this in their cables? I've always used WD-40. But I've always wanted to try it.
