bustanut 03-19-2009, 09:52 PM well I got a heads up from a local police officer while at the suzuki dealership today. last year there was a steep rise in highspeed chases and guys on sportbikes doing high speed wheelies on the main drag of town. (prairie town of about 15,000 people with no trees and flat straight highways until you get into the hills) one guy actually split between 2 cop cars while wheelying, and another one came down from a wheelie and rear ended a semi trailer, parts of his bike flew off and hit a pedestrian who was walking down the side walk. the cops are not out to give demerits on motorbike liscences now, if they catch you doing 50km (about 23 miles an hour) over the speed limit, or stunt in town they will pull your liscence and try for jail time. they know which guy in town split the two cop cars, they just couldn't get his plate, that guy is target #1. the cop warned me that its going to be a long summer for bikers in the area as they have hired another 10 officers for our area and a couple of new interceptors. (he claims they have a vette engine in an impala, not sure if thats even possible.) why can't guys save it for the country roads? the cops will usually let you off with warnings if you take the stunting out of town. there goes the good old days.....:headshake:infrandom
jlizardo08gsxr600 03-19-2009, 10:06 PM you can't split cars?? that sucks..
it's those people that ruin it for us.. we become the targets even if we're the innocent one..

I think the only place you can split lanes is california which is awsome for them but sucks here because there is so many times it can be done safely and make things so much easier like sitting in traffic on a rediculously hot day breathing in everyones fumes and have to just tough it out. If only the ones who made those rules had them enforced upon them :headshake

RicanHavoc 03-20-2009, 04:12 AM that sucks man, it only takes a few to ruin it for the rest of us.. here in the states that impala with the vette engine is called the SS and yes it will move!!! catch a bike? not a chance but the SS is no slouch!

That does suck. Yes a vette engine will fit in an impala.
gsxr6k6 03-20-2009, 05:01 AM All they're going to do is increase the amount of high speed chases, good for them, how smart. And the Impala ain't shit, it might have a vette motor but it also weighs the equivalent of 10 bikes.
Mr645 03-20-2009, 05:28 AM South Florida is like that. Thanks to squids and idiots treating major highways like racetracks, the cops are all over us. Get caught going 30 mph over? The ticket is $1000. Third time and your at $2500, loss of vehicle and license.

that would be a 1996 impala ss, the come stock with a vette engine, breaks, trans. they are fast as hell, he was jerking your chain. it sucks when a few people wreck it for everyone.
... one guy actually split between 2 cop cars while wheelying ...
That pretty extreme tho .. haha :arsenal :funny:
Thats to bad they are going to be a-holes about it.

true but they're rated at only 250 crank horsepower, plus its gotta weigh over 5,000 pounds, its not fast. and the new impala ss doesnt hav the corvette motor, first off it's fwd, it has the LS4 motor 5.3 liter 303 horsepower. the LS4 was never put into a corvette. LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 LS7 LS9 are all corvette motors. LS9 being 638 horsepower

the cop said they clocked him at 150 while he was wheelying though, that takes nuts but come on if i was a cop i would be pissed that some guy did me like that, i rode with that guy and his buddies once, riding with them puts an instant target on your back as most of them are known to the police for various resons as well, one guy had a police cerfew and was still out well past all the time riding, and just runs if the police try to pull him over.
its that group that really brought on the heat.
Clarksroom 03-20-2009, 08:07 AM Sounds like a group of dumb asses!! Can't say I don't go out and play around and do some things on the road that are suppose to be done on the track, but not in town. Out in the country where you can see cars coming for miles.. That sucks!!!

Here in Ontario last year they passed a law that the first time you get caught at that much over you lose your machine, as well as fines and jail time. And justified more Cops and Aircraft being paid with my taxes.
Hey the cops have to put on a show every once in a while so Joe Public will think they're doing something.:twofinger

In the older impalas/caprice the rwd version not the new impalas because there front wheel drive.

wrong on those numbers. my brother had one. it had a 5.7 liter LT1 in it and ive seen 160 in that car and it still had more too go. and as far as the horse power they put out alot more then 250 at the crank. its 260 to the wheels. and the LT1 was put in some corvettes. and the car weights 4200 lbs.

maybe but his info is wrong.
tatsu 03-20-2009, 10:00 PM What city is this in? Im in Red Deer, the info sounds similar to whats going on here as well. more cops and word about some bike chasing car. Suppose to keep up with 600s.

Vigilante 03-21-2009, 09:53 AM ya in my small town, anything that looks cool gets picked on... but the drunken farmer can run lights and stop signs without signaling all day. i however get pulled over for "random checkstops" lol
funny how i never get pulled over when i am driving my truck?

Do they actually call them "random checkstops"? And if so do they tell you what they're checking for when they pull you over? I don't like to mess with the police because for 1 it's generally expensive, and 2 I like to know they're there if I really need them but at some point randomly stopping people turns into harassment.

random check stops are they just set up a couple ghost cars down the road to sit and chase if need be, and then pull everyone over and ask for liscence and regestration, check for drunk drivors and child seat infractions, anything they can notice.
i don't mind the check stops, they catch a lot of people doing really stupid stuff.
