G'day everyone. Havin a blast doin 1st gear power wheelies but runnin out of gear. I think it's time for second gear clutchies so I'd thought I'd ask some actual gsxr riders for some advice. I've been doin the rear brake tap technique to bring it up and obviously it is timing with clutchin it in 2nd. This is my "instinct" to bring it up in 2nd but correct me if I'm wrong. I start at 6-8000 rpm tap the rear, clutch in half way on the downer and reem it out 50/50 with the throttle so I don't end up doin a rolling burnout!!! HA HA. Obviously I'll need some practice but a little help doesn't go astray. I thank you for your replies. Joel from down under!!
Oh yeh and I've got the rear tyre set at about 34 psi too to make it balance out easier cos we got real crap roads down here!
Motojoe_23 08-06-2005, 06:18 AM Never heard of a rear brake technique to bring it up :headscrat
Second gear ou should be able to clutch up sitting down no problem with a bit of practice, no bounce or preloading the front really. It is not easy at first but it is doable.
and as far as the roads go the tire pressure will not help really. You will eventualy just get used to it. Our local stunt strip has TERRIBLE surface, but when I practice there all day and then hit one on a smooth road it feels like I have both wheels on the ground they are so smooth. :pimp:
REVLIMIT 08-06-2005, 10:27 PM I'm guessing that the rear brake tap would be to try and make the front end dive? So kinda like trying to bounce the front but using your foot O_o

Exactly.
Motojoe_23 08-07-2005, 04:10 AM Thats funny, cause on the track, we use the rear brake to REDUCE the amount of front end dive going into a corner. We drag the rear just a split second before letting off so that the front end WONT dive as far and upset the chassis as you pitch it in
KmansK5 08-08-2005, 06:13 PM I was thinking that the rear breake tap would adversly affect the front dive too. It doens't seem like it would help only hurt? am I wrong?

I've played around with it a little and it does work to load the front forks and give you a little bounce.
GSXRSTACY 08-17-2005, 05:10 PM 2nd is easy cat, just move you ass to back of seat then get to 5000 rpm, pull clutch till about 10000rpms works for me.
mike s 08-19-2005, 05:34 AM tried the rear brake tap this morning and it does give you some bounce. i had never tried it till then. pretty cool

I was thinking the same thing. When I tap my rear, the ass end squats down. I am going to try it this weekend and see. I am curious!
I do like preloading much better than clutching it though.

CW it does work :D
cwest 08-19-2005, 10:57 AM I will definitely try it this weekend. I don't understand how it works, but I will find out! LOL
mike s 08-19-2005, 12:17 PM yea i'm ready!!
yeh I been practisin a bit lately but not too much happenin. I got body position right but is there some other little tip when cluthcin it. ok I'm rollin at about 5k then clutch in quik rev to 7-8k release the clutch but little poppers just happen cos I know the revs bring it down to about 7500 rpm when clutch is engaged so I obviously gotta give some more gas?
FuzioN 09-04-2005, 02:49 AM Go about 60 klicks. slip the clutch, rev up to 10k (on my 750) and drop that clutch, and dont let off the throttle you wanna ride the clutch out and always focus on that throttle. This is in 2nd gear.

yeh I'll sit back and try it but I'll start at 9000 rpm. whats this ride the clutch? Don't you just dump it and adjust throttle for the height? My bike hops like crazy but I'm just not goin through with it. It's pretty fustrating doin 1st and 2nd gear poweries and not clutchin. Tanks heaps.
bad101 09-04-2005, 03:31 AM just wondering if anyone can tell me why after washing my bike and then going for a ride my tach and speedo went dead then came back on then went dead again, then the engine died, wont start, like the battery is dead.
This is the first time this has happend. thanks.
mr_gsxr750 09-04-2005, 04:20 AM maybe your battery actually went dead. when you washed it, maybe you got lots of water in threw the intake tubes.....or maybe it just had enough of you and stoped working lol.

Good advice, i was just gonna say pull the clutch, rev to near peak torque rpm. then drop it.
