So we've been selling a ton of Tech Spec lately and it was making me wonder how it compares to the Stompgrip that I've had on my bike for the last year. I decided to buy a set and try it out, and maybe do a quick little writeup on the forums.
So first, the Stomp. Starting off, this thing was the biggest pain in the ass to install. I mean scarred for life pain in the ass. I put it on during a track weekend after my saturday ride and I really wanted to make sure it went on without any air bubbles in it. I've seen plenty of them installed quickly and the air bubbles just look horrible. I took my time, working inch by inch pressing on every bump and every space between them. It seriously took over 20 minutes each side and when it was finally done I definitely had two decent blisters on my thumbs.
As for performance they were great, though I really didn't need that whole huge pad on there. They definitely keep you in place on the track, but after paying more attention on the street they were a little aggressive when riding in jeans as they sort of chewed up my legs with thin pants.
Despite my best efforts there still was a bunch of air bubbles underneath the pads and there were air bubbles all around the factory decals. Never really bothered me til I realized Tech Spec made a kit that would make my tank decals more viewable.

As advertised the Stomp came off without residue and all it took was a simple wipe down with rubbing alcohol and i was back to brand new. I lined the Tech Spec up and peeled a corner off one of the pads. I can't even begin to tell you how much easier it was to install compared to the clear stomp. Recalling all my previous air bubbles i still worked it on the tank slowly with each pad taking no more than literally 60 seconds to install. No blisters, no drama. I dropped the other side on then lined up the center pad. I let the Tech Spec sit on there for a day and took it out the next night.
Despite the less aggressive look of the Tech Spec it had a very similar amount of traction to it compared to the Stomp. I like the big grippy center pad compared to my previous one and was able to take it off and move it as advertised by Tech Spec. Obviously each bike has a different kit for it and a lot of them have pads that go on both the tank and frame. You can tell a lot of though goes into each kit and i'm definitely sold on their quality. We've got a bunch of these out there and I have yet to hear of a single warranty issue. I'll give an update when i get some track time in, hopefully this weekend.
