http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=101&parent=85 stretcharmstrg 06-22-2009, 09:23 PM thats a nice looking kit slim ballast are the way to go  i hate seeing bikes with big bulges on the side from where the ballast pushes out the fairings xplicit 06-23-2009, 02:59 PM well i have them installed. they are amazing. I went riding last night with a guy with a stock gsxr light. and wow! i'm not sure if the high beam is worth it. (havent been on that dark of roads yet) With the low beams lights i can see well over twice as much even when he used his high beams. the high beams on mine just move the light up a little bit. I also live in the city so i could be wrong. they are a little more blue then i thought they would be but i like the color a alot.
the install is a little harder with the hi/lo kit as is has another box that has to be hidden. I have the ballasts on the head stay bar? I think that's what its called. its the rectangle beam that goes from the handle bar area to the head light. i have all the wires under the head light area on that plastic under body. everything was plug and play. my only problem is im having a problem with the weather seal. i think i might have to cut the factory one or the hid one. the bulbs are so big with the seal it keeps popping them off. my kit came with a wire harness to hook up to the battery. i was able to reach the battery for the positive. the ground wire wouldn't reach so it is grounded using the bolt that holds the horn.
so in short these hids are :arsenal  stretcharmstrg 06-23-2009, 04:22 PM dont cut your factory weather seal cut the one on the hid or slide it up the wires if you know what i mean it feels as if they are fixed to it but there usually are not but deff keep the factory seal xplicit 06-24-2009, 08:02 PM a couple pics taken with my phone. Ill be taking some vs a stock gsxr soon

I cut the hid seal on one side then it fit in the factory seal perfect. oh yeah and they are bright!!!you know its a night and day difference when my wife thinks they are great investment  marcus20201 07-06-2009, 04:36 PM yeah i just got my camera back so ill get some pics soon. yeah really bright, i have 6k on my car and 4k on my quad, im not sure what temp i wanna go with on the bike. i was thinking 3k would look cool since my bike is yellow. but there not as bright as 6k and i dont know if 8k would look right. i might get 6k kit and an extra set of 3k bulbs to swap out from time to time or run 3k for my low and 6k for the high, idk Tro1086 07-06-2009, 06:28 PM Looks nice man, I need to get a set one of these days. Did you get the Bi-Xenons so you have Hi and Lo hids? Cant decide between 6000-6500k or 8000k. Your 8000K's dont look to overly blue thou, from the pics anyway. I want something with a nice hint of blue, but not so overpowering that it screams "AFTERMARKET RICE ROCKET!!!", know what I mean?

How are you gona put two different HID bulbs in that bike for Hi and Lo? Use the left as high and the right as low or something? xplicit 07-06-2009, 08:13 PM Looks nice man, I need to get a set one of these days. Did you get the Bi-Xenons so you have Hi and Lo hids? i know what you mean by being to blue. I was going to order the 6k kit if i got the 35w kit. everyone said that if i get teh 55w kit i should get 8k kit as it will look the same as the 6k 35w kit. as the higher wattage washes out the color. yeah i have the bi-xenons. some times im glad i have them but i could have done with out high beams. i get flashed all the time when im on low beams, then i flash the high beam.....lol Tro1086 07-06-2009, 08:57 PM i get flashed all the time when im on low beams, then i flash the high beam.....lol
HAHAHA! Maybe you should aim the lights lower? Either way thou I bet those 55w HIDs are bright as fuk.
So the kit from DDM does in fact use a bi-xenon for the hi-lo's? I was looking all over their site but couldnt anything saying what they used. Some kits I see use the HID for lows and then have a secondary halogen bulb for the highs, GAY. So your bulbs have the little sliding sheild on them? I might have to order a set of these babies. Think Ill go with the 35w 8000K thou. Is the harness all plug and play? Plug it into your stock bulb connecter, mount the crap on the bike, and your done? marcus20201 07-07-2009, 09:54 AM Looks nice man, I need to get a set one of these days. yeah thats how my lighting is set up now. idk if its because its an o1 or if the previous owner did it but i kinda like it that way RicanHavoc 07-07-2009, 07:43 PM OP, please clarify, you have both lights lit as low beams? or 1 for low and 1 for high beams? I have an 01 1000 and thought I needed the bi-xenon kit for my lights to stay the same which still only means that both bulbs will be HID in Low Beam only... Hi Beam still being regular.
Looks like a great kit! and if that is 1 bulb lit, then damn thats bright!!! How hot do the 55s get? I know a guy with the 35s and theyre pretty hot... any worries about your lens melting or do you think it will handle it? Tro1086 07-08-2009, 05:38 PM Hey Rican. The Bi-Xenon bulbs use a sliding sheild to adjust where the light is directed. So your Hi and Lows are both HID. Kinda like how the stock bulb has a little sheild thing over one of the filaments in the bulb, to adjust which way the light gets thrown. I think his pics are both sides lit, on low beams. The HIDs do get pretty hot, but Im not sure if they get hotter than halogens. The 55w's might thou, to me the 55w kit is overkill thou.
Marcus, sounds like the previous owner musta changed the headlights around. I think from the factory all the bikes with those headlights had dual H4 bulbs. Both sides lit on low, and both sides lit on high. Is yours set up so one side is on for low and both sides are on for high? Almost need to set it up so: one bulb on for daytime (by law), then can switch both lamps on low beam for when its actually dark out, and then also use both lamps for high beam when needed. lol. xplicit 07-08-2009, 06:00 PM yeah the 55w is over kill...but i love it lol. my bulb moves not a shield marcus20201 07-09-2009, 05:25 AM Is yours set up so one side is on for low and both sides are on for high? yup, it set up so the left is always on low then when i hit the hi beam both are on hi and the right is aimed a bit higher than the left. Tro1086 07-11-2009, 11:16 AM yeah the 55w is over kill...but i love it lol. my bulb moves not a shield
Wow really? Sounds interesting. The only ones iv seen before have a sliding sheild, and the bulb stays in place. How does the bulb move? Just the inner capsule, or the whole glass tube or what? If the bulb slides (not hard mounted) do you notice your beams bouncing around on the street at all? Or does it seem pretty solid?
If you could take some pics of the bulb that would be sweet! xplicit 07-11-2009, 11:53 AM its as solid as can be no bouncing. but yeha the bulb itself moves like a 1/4" maybe a 1/8" i dont know how it works but it does move. but i like it as i can flash my high beam and it doesnt have to warm up just moves as the high beam is the same light just moves up higher basically no cut off.:thumbup:
my lights are doing this to all my friends stock lights :infrandom :laughingr xplicit 07-11-2009, 11:58 AM you know what at night I'm sure you can see my lights from Wyoming and I'm in Michigan. just let me know when you are out side and ill shine it your way lol. seriously buy them and you will not even be a little disappointed i want to buy them for my car, my wifes car, hell even my work truck lol punishmentcycle 07-11-2009, 10:46 PM gay KosherK6Rider909 07-12-2009, 02:37 AM just got a 5000k 55W kit for my k6 and i have 2 problems i need help with
problem number 1: horrific headlight bounce i need to figure out how to stop this and it can be related to problem number 2 but im not 100% sure
problem number 2: the adapter that goes behind the bulb itself (the plastic piece that goes between the retaining hook thing and the bulb) doesn't quite fit right and the bulb has a lot of play in the housing but with the retaining wire thing clipped in it is pretty solid | |
