R.I.P. - 13 Year Old

I was watching the news tonight and saw a story about a boy (of 13 years) in Houston who died while riding his father's GSX-R. The last day of summer vacation was today and while this boy's parents were away at work - he pried open their garage door, took the keys to his father's GSX-R (looked like a 600), fired it up, and took it for a joy-ride around their neighborhood. He didn't go far before he tried to pass a car, almost ran head-on into a truck, and ended up rear ending a Buick. The bike went in the ditch and the boy struck the road without the protection of a helmet... he was pronounced dead at the scene. "His father and uncle race the bikes... and the little boy wanted to be like his father" - words from the grandfather. God Bless Him ~all info came from FOX 26 News~~8/09/05~

That shit scares me to death. My son loves my bike, but he is about 17 years too young and even then I am not sure. I love my bike, but if anything ever happen to my boy, I would never forgive myself or ride again.

thats so sad. at that age they want to experience everything too... if you guys have kids make sure you let them know that your bike is not a toy they can mess around with. I know when I was 4 years old, and my little bro was 3. we both got into my dads closet and found an old .45 my bro put a bullet in and thats when my mom walked in and my brother put the gun down. No telling what would have happened. My dad sold the gun the next day, I would never be the same knowing my younger brothers life was taken because we were messing around with a gun. Even though I hate the little shit now, It'd break my heart to see something like that go wrong with my family.

Yes and sadly at that age kids do not realize their own mortality so they are nothing thinking hey I can die from doing this.... Anyways rip

" maybe he wanted to be like daddy but sounds like a hooligan in the making that woulda gorwn up stealing other people's shit. JMHO I see your point. I can't say for sure, because my sons are much younger right now; but I imagine my kids would be scared $hitless from knowing they'd have to face the "Wrath of Dad," if they tried something like this. I can't imagine they would even think of trying to take one of our bikes for a "joyride," but then again - who only knows what the future could bring. Nevertheless, this is still very sad, and my condolences to the kids' family and friends. RIP.
