Try Zack @ nortex cycles. I just spoke to him but am unsure as to what exactly what you need. Him number is 1-940-458-0020 he is up off 35. Also I recommend going to a local track day even if ur not going to race or do the track day there are always track guys that will do it for around 40 bucks. Let me know where you go or if Zach can help ya. Good luck txgixxer750 07-28-2009, 11:28 AM As soon as I talk to my friend, I will let him know you still need it done. txgixxer750 07-28-2009, 11:31 AM Try Zack @ nortex cycles. Im working on getting down there pertty soon, just tring to find time, this time of the month is non stop for me. you da man 07-28-2009, 04:10 PM One of the nation's best suspension tuners is Jim Cambora who owns Raceworx located at The Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX. He is our suspension god  for us track junkies and racers who want to go faster, safer. Don't just expect to roll up there and ask him for a quick suspension tune. Drop your bike off for a week, maybe more...that dude is busy building race motors for cars/bikes and suspension for cars/bikes. If it's your stock suspension Cliff Piper of Piper Performance can do a good job (N. Richland Hills). Also, Greg Fowler of Garage Mahal 1200 S Blue Mound RD Suite #210. Ft Worth, TX 817-306-7117. Greg does Michelin tires at Ridesmart Trackdays and is a great guy and loves to "bench race" the night before a trackday. FraggleRock 07-29-2009, 07:41 AM Try Zack @ nortex cycles. Thanks for info guys. I Should have clarified a little more in my original post. Basically it's a new K8 600 with stock setup. The suspension feels great to me at 160lbs but the I know there is room to improve. Also the stock seat needs to go it feels like it's made of oak sometimes. justme 07-30-2009, 12:46 PM Greg Fowler of Garage Mahal 1200 S Blue Mound RD Suite #210. Hmmm. Wonder what happened, did he move? I've only seen Greg at trackdays with his mobile shop in that nice trailer he has. Cool dude to have a beer with. SuspensionGooRu 07-31-2009, 10:51 AM On stock suspension you can set the sag yourself there are tons of videos on Youtube and web sights that show you how and it is pretty simple. All you need is a piece of tape and a metric tape measure and a couple of buddies to hold the bike. You want 42mm of sag in the front and 30mm in the rear with 5-10mm of free sag in the rear.
Then what you can do is turn your compression and rebound adjusters all the way in and out count the turns or clicks and write them down. Take the time to feel the suspension with them all the way in and all the way out. You can do this by standing on either side of the bike and squeezing the front brake in and pushing down on the grips do not let go of the brake. You can also do this to the rear shock by placing one hand on the rear of the tank and the rear of the seat and push down and release.
Then put your setting in the middle on both front and rear and go from there and make small adjustements and notes.
Almost all stock suspension I set up or service I have the compression almost all the way hard and the rebound is double what the compression is usually.
A great book on suspension to buy is Andrew Trevitt "Sportbike Suspension Tunning" it will give you an over all view of how suspension works on a motorcycle and great instructions on how to set it up yourself.
A cheap way to improve your suspension is to change the oil in the forks and replace the stock springs. You can also change out the rear spring on most stock shocks for your size. | |
