If you are looking for brand new, I would suggest a 600, 750 at the most. If you haven't had a street bike before, i wouldn't go all out. You have to get yourself adjusted to a whole new comfort zone. But then again, it only goes as fast as you twist.
Top speed doesn't really matter; they all go over 150 and that's pretty f'n fast.
Insurance is definitely going to be cheaper on a 600, so if you're on a budget, that's the way to go. Then invest in a full exhaust, PCIII, TRE, and a few other mods and the bike will fly.
