Is Shinko tires any good ?
SHINKO TiresBGsxrRider 09-22-2009, 11:39 AM Is Shinko tires any good ? uneedthis2 09-22-2009, 12:07 PM Depends on what type of riding you're trying to do!
You're not going to get a ton of miles out of them
They are pretty sticky
On my 63" bike I was leaning almost to the edge on it.
They aren't great in the rain MR DANGLES 09-22-2009, 01:02 PM DO A SEARCH... good for the drag strip not for aggressive ridding my.02 Boss 09-22-2009, 11:29 PM If you plan on riding on nothing but flat, dry, straight roads they are great. uneedthis2 09-23-2009, 05:25 AM If you plan on riding on nothing but flat, dry, straight roads they are great.
Even at a 62" wheelbase I was still turning just fine on mine keeping up w/ stock wheelbase bikes w/ better tires  sturific 09-23-2009, 06:07 AM i had a set on my bike when i first got it but they wore out really fast! moved to bridgestones now and im much happieer 750GSXR05 09-23-2009, 11:17 AM matters which shinko you have i have a 009 in the rear. bike is stock length and at decent corners, at high speed when leaning it will break loose, so I have chicken strips on mine cause they are breaking loose a lot. But the 009 I have seen people put over 10,000 miles on them uneedthis2 09-23-2009, 12:18 PM The 003 stealth is super soft, very sticky, very little mileage lol Melaza 09-23-2009, 02:07 PM when i bought my bike the previous owner had an almost brand new set on it(less than 500k)My God...from my experience THEY SUCK..I guess for the drag strip OR if you only ride hwy or mainly in flat roads they are OK.Btw they are the ravens 009.
After Falling twice i must say stay away from them if you are planning to do "agressive" driving or twisties. 07gsxr6AustinTx 09-28-2009, 01:43 PM so if im planing on riding hard but still ride every day then what any suggestions? i live in texas so most of the time pretty warm coming up on winter so need some good winter tires mind you it dosent get to cold often down in texas:hmmm: AyeKay 09-28-2009, 03:28 PM so if im planing on riding hard but still ride every day then what any suggestions? i live in texas so most of the time pretty warm coming up on winter so need some good winter tires mind you it dosent get to cold often down in texas:hmmm:
BT-016's or PP's
OR if you need something that lasts a bit longer the Pilot Road 2 nater 09-28-2009, 03:44 PM BT-016's or PP's

What he said. Pilot Road 2. jtownthug 10-05-2009, 01:44 PM I bought a bike with Shinko tires on them and they are the worst that I have ever ridden on. Mine are super hard and don't stick to anything. I went from my old bike with michelin pilots to shitcos and its hard to imagine any tire being worse. I did meet a guy with a 1k that said he liked them. I guess it depends on what model tire you have and how you ride.
I hope there is a real life Mr Shinko and I meet him someday so I can kick him in the balls. K8gixxer 10-06-2009, 06:41 AM I love my Pilot Power 2CT! Jester1 10-06-2009, 10:49 AM All my buddies and I use the Raven 009 series Shinkos and we all have had good experiences with them. We're getting about 4,000 miles on the rear with a good mix of riding, and changing the fronts every other rear change.
Price is really good, and the quality is where we need it for how we ride. Just be sure to pick the right series for riding style and you'll be fine. hellishhorses 10-12-2009, 09:54 AM You'll get some people say they love the price and the tires aren't bad, but I prefer 100% confidence in my tires. I've tried BT012s, ContiSport Attacks, Road Attacks, Pilot Power 2CT, BT020s, Qualifiers, Diablo Stradas, and yes Shinkos. I'll say the 2CT and Sport Attacks were at the top of my list, and the Shinkos were absolutely dead last. Great packaging but that's where the upside ended. I was not confident in these tires at all, especially after some unplanned sliding during trail-braking...very scary. These tires may suit you well and you may never have an issue, I was unfortunately not that lucky. veilside_350 10-27-2009, 07:34 AM The 003 stealth is super soft, very sticky, very little mileage lol
the stealths wear out in less than 1000miles haha. grip pretty good though I put a knee down a couple times on them but they feel loose unless they are really hot. dunlop or pirelli are much better! veilside_350 10-27-2009, 07:37 AM so if im planing on riding hard but still ride every day then what any suggestions? i live in texas so most of the time pretty warm coming up on winter so need some good winter tires mind you it dosent get to cold often down in texas:hmmm:
Pirelli diablo rosso, or Dunlop Sportmax Q2. i ride all the time but drag a knee here n there. those are great choices for price and grip! suzuka1980 11-12-2009, 02:24 AM never heard of this brand before...i'm using Michelin Pilot sports robsgsxr1000 11-24-2009, 11:32 AM i like the shinko tires i street ride and drag race and they stick to the road and track fine for me and i recommend them to all my friend TorqueLover 11-24-2009, 12:40 PM Stay away from those JUNK Chinese tires. norcalsportrider 11-24-2009, 01:30 PM I am always tire poor. I am always looking for a good deal. BUT there is no way I would trust the shinkos.
One of the reasons is not proper profiles for brisk riding.
So I have not tried them mainly because I dont want them to fail and hurt my bike. hyfee66elco 11-28-2009, 02:22 PM BT-016's or PP's

I also like the 16's madmike9396 11-28-2009, 02:47 PM my friend has one on his gsxr 06 1000 and he uses it at the drag strip and it hooks like a MF he loves it. Just spin enough to heat it up and it will stick  if thats what your doing but i would not reccomend it for curves SKNL2 11-28-2009, 06:43 PM I had a Shinko 006 on the front of my 750 for about 15 miles. I promptly went to the shop and had it replaced. Would have been fine if I lived in Florida and went straight all the time. I live too close to Deals Gap for it to have been a good tire for me. travingage 12-05-2009, 11:33 AM i have a 03 1000 and have the shinko ravens on it have almost 5000 miles on them i ride very hard a nd they have no chicken strips on them gsxrstunna13 12-07-2009, 01:59 PM so if im planing on riding hard but still ride every day then what any suggestions? i live in texas so most of the time pretty warm coming up on winter so need some good winter tires mind you it dosent get to cold often down in texas:hmmm:
get the bridgestone battletrax i live in texas too and ride hard in the middle of summer in san antonio and they work great. I will ride in the rain no problems with them and there really great tires. GixxerFX 12-07-2009, 03:33 PM I had a local bike shop quote me a price of $300 OTD w/ installation of a set of shinkos. I politely declined, and spent $60 more for a set of Bridgestone Battleax BT016's. Narada 12-10-2009, 01:13 PM i had shinkos on my bike and i did not like them at all. i felt a little bit of slipping on the back tire around sharp bends | |
