skibum91 08-25-2004, 10:38 AM ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AP) -- Authorities are searching for a pack of highway stunt motorcyclists blamed for a wreck that seriously hurt five people in a sport utility vehicle.
A handful of motorcyclists were on Highway 364 Saturday when they changed lanes and cut off a Ford Explorer, forcing that vehicle to swerve to the right and hit a Chevrolet Suburban.
The Suburban tumbled down an embankment, ejecting most of its eight occupants. Five people in that vehicle were seriously injured; the other three sustained lesser harm. Only one was wearing a seat belt.
"There's a common misconception that if motorcyclists are in an accident, they're going to only hurt themselves. This proved that wrong," Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Geier said Tuesday. "Now the public is more aware that these types of stunts cause these accidents."
By some accounts, a chase vehicle was filming the motorcyclists.
Witnesses said the motorcyclists were "riding wheelies, showing off, doing stunts," with another vehicle following them, Patrol Cpl. Jeff Myers said. He called the antics "total disregard for the safety of others."
In many cases, "extreme motorcyclists" -- thrill-seekers who pop wheelies while pushing their machines to the max, at times over 100 mph -- film their exploits for display, at times for online sale.
96GixxerGuy 08-25-2004, 10:58 AM ... I dont know what to say to that.... Its guys like those, that give riders bad names...
***EDIT***
I would also like to note the lack of seatbelts on the SUV's part...
skibum91 08-25-2004, 11:04 AM Yea, thats what caught my eye, and what about the stupid ass in the Explorer that swerved into the Suburban, shoulda let the bike hit the explorer, and guess what, the biker would have been the only one to get hurt. Its not his fault the guy in the explorer swerved into the surburban. And also who said the bike cut off the explorer? the driver of it? well ofcourse he is going to say that. I've had people do that shit when I had plenty of room to get over.
96GixxerGuy 08-25-2004, 11:08 AM And what of this chase car that was filming? Regardless of who im filming i will stop if i see someone get injured. It is alot of nonsense (btw im at my office at work, bored, lol).
skibum91 08-25-2004, 11:10 AM so i am, i have to draw out this work for the next week so I'll be on here a lot. haha.
Lyte- 08-25-2004, 11:46 AM Although I hate idiots who drive or even ride wreckless when other peoples lifes are envolved and I don't excuse the stunters from stunting on the fwy I seriously doubt someone with that type of riding experience would be stunting side by side to a suv so close that when he changed lanes and lil tiny motorcycle forced the explorer out of his lane and into a suburban... It sounds more like they where not paying attention to their driving and where in fact watching the stunters and drifted to far on direction and in order to correct jerked the wheel to hard and fast to the other direction... We all know SUv doesn't have the best handling anti roll records and most certianly not the damn explorers
skibum91 08-25-2004, 11:53 AM exactly, they were just trying to change blame to "the wreckless motorcycle riders".
gsxrsrad1000 08-25-2004, 12:13 PM At least the explorer got outta of the bikes way, you all know how it on bikes. You come up on a car and they want to brake, at least the explorer tried to move, its just unfortunate they didn't look first. Bikes scare drivers for some reason, a reason that I have yet to figure out...................
9ty2point5 08-25-2004, 01:07 PM ...forcing that vehicle to swerve to the right and hit a Chevrolet Suburban.
Only one was wearing a seat belt.
i wish my bike could force cars out of the waY?
put your seatbelt on dumbass...oh wait your dead!
this is why i stunt in private...out of sight out of mind!
usdm420 08-25-2004, 05:07 PM a reason that I have yet to figure out...................
if they're anything like me, i'd rather hit a 3,000lbs. piece of metal than be responsible for killing/severely injuring a person that has no protection other than a helmet/jacket.........i steer clear of bikes when i'm in a car
skibum91 08-25-2004, 05:08 PM I think if the dumbass is doing something stupid, then let him hit you, who cares what they are in.
usdm420 08-25-2004, 05:12 PM oh most certainly, i'm just talking about everyday driving/riding
if a jackass comes flying down the freeway doing a standup and starts to swerve in my lane, you better believe i'll give his ass a fucking love tap with my bumper, i could care less at that point. which is actually what the explorer should've done......he wouldn't have been held liable for anything because of that asshole's stupidity.
skibum91 08-25-2004, 05:20 PM Exactly, but I don't even belive that the rider did. I think the explorer did something stupid and is try to shift blame.
xX Gsxr pimp Xx 08-25-2004, 05:25 PM i think you can blame both.. but yea i dont thinhk the car had to do what it did but hey what can ya do nows it already happened..
9ty2point5 08-25-2004, 05:31 PM Bikes scare drivers for some reason, a reason that I have yet to figure out...................\
thats easy!
THERE OUTTA CONTROL!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!@!!! HONEY CALL 911...OUR KIDS!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!! *swerves into car*
Lyte- 08-25-2004, 05:39 PM yea and their bikes are dangerous i mean my god who are they thinking they can split lanes and pop wheelies and ish!
wickmaster 08-25-2004, 07:01 PM My boy sent me the same thing over email. He musta wanted me to read and think. Huh
Lyte- 08-25-2004, 07:09 PM yes SUV's are dangerous!!! don't buy one!
gixerfast 08-25-2004, 09:00 PM whats even more dangerous is these women driving around in their suv's talkin on the phone mot paying attention. then they change lanes making you have to manuever out of the way. that shit pisses me off, when you almost get ran off the road cause of dumbasses not paying attention.
Lyte- 08-25-2004, 09:05 PM to be fair its not just women... more then enough men try to run me off the road!
skibum91 08-25-2004, 09:28 PM I usually see, Older people in general and also women are the ones that are driving like idiots. and I gotta say, I hate the damn rubber neckers around here, and also the people that think the blinker and the brake are connected.
gixerfast 08-25-2004, 09:33 PM lyte thats true its just the majority of the time its happened to me its a women driver.
Lyte- 08-26-2004, 08:07 AM Every day I think one person tried to run me off the road this morning it was a dude in a work truck which was switching lanes mid way through a wide left turn with out looking lucky I was 1/2 ass expecting him to do.
skibum91 08-26-2004, 08:37 AM I don't think there has been a day of riding that I don't get almost hit or run over or something.
Lyte- 08-26-2004, 02:08 PM Doesn't matter car or bike its like I have a freaken target on me...almost got smashed between 2 semi's once...no where to go lucky the one driver noticed the other one not noticing me and moved over to let me escape
skibum91 08-26-2004, 02:15 PM that would be a shitty situation.
Lyte- 08-26-2004, 05:11 PM shitty is not the word!!!
that shit was scary as hell
gixerfast 08-26-2004, 05:41 PM Doesn't matter car or bike its like I have a freaken target on me...almost got smashed between 2 semi's once...no where to go lucky the one driver noticed the other one not noticing me and moved over to let me escape
Shit Lyte that would be some scary shit. Luckily you got out of that situation.
I think all bikers have a target on them. I have had the crap scared out of me a plenty of times, so many close calls to almost getting run into by cagers.
Lyte- 08-26-2004, 05:44 PM okay now this word cager
i know it has to do with people drive cars or trunks but what is the true meaning of it?
gixerfast 08-26-2004, 05:54 PM shit I dont know either, I just use it, I know as much about it as you.
Lyte- 08-26-2004, 07:34 PM well someone has to know what it means!
skibum91 08-26-2004, 08:58 PM A Cage is another word for an automobile and a Cager is a word for the vehicles driver.
Lyte- 08-27-2004, 06:35 AM Ski is just a hor of knowledge
xX Gsxr pimp Xx 08-27-2004, 06:36 AM lol well hes just a all around whore then huh.... hahahhahahah
skibum91 08-27-2004, 09:09 AM Yes, I'm a whore in every sense of the work. How do you think i get by with my shitty ass job!! My suga mama!! hahaha.
I have to say we ride like at everynight and there are normally about 10 of us and we never really have anyproblems like that most everyone that rides with us know how to ride and consintrate fully on there riding when we are doing that kinda stuff also what I think happend was like someone else said the explore seen motorcycles comming up at about 65 to 70mph in a wheelie and was looking at them in the mirror then relized they were getting too close to the bikes and yanked the wheel to the other side and could not correct it in time to relize that there is another car there.
