I'm finally comfy on my new bike so last night I figure i would start to try to pop em in first gear a bit with throttle only. I don't know if im holding back but i smash the throttle in first gear and the wheel is just not coming up and not to mention you start gaining so much speed its a bit nerve wrecking. Is there a easier way to get the wheel to pop a bit in first? I would clutch rev it in first but the damn throttle is so sensitive I really dont wan't to loop the bike. Any advice here would be much appreciated.

ride 1st up to 6k and then let off the throttle when it hits around 4 roll the throttle and it should come up. Thats what i do and normally the more you roll on it the higher it'll come up. have fun good luck and be safe.

So just increase throttle quickly... In other words dont smash it down :P.

You can power it up in first which is what I did when I first started doing' em. On my 600 I would give it throttle and let it get to about 3-4k let off a bit and them smash on the throttle usually pops up pretty well but is kinda hard to control, you also get going pretty fast and run out of gear quick...
The best way to do it (I think), is to ride it out to about 3-4k, pull in the clutch (with 1 or 2 fingers) rev it up to like 5-6k and drop the clutch. Try it out a few timesat different Rpms And you should be able to get it up. Just make sure you cover that rear brake. Good Luck.

I just started riding around 2 months ago on my 600 gsxr 03. I learned to pop wheelies.. in first gear..
i go around 6 grand and let off the throttle to like 4 grand and rip the throttle and let go fast and rip the throttle again.. and u'll pop up...
fun shit lol and addicting
My 05 600 does it pretty easy just like the guys say 6-7k roll off to 4k then wham bam. Remember to put your ass right to the back of the seat, cover your rear brake, look where ya goin and also anticipate the front comin up cos if you don't know what will happen you'll wet yourself. My bike has had the back lowered an inch and the front preload backed off to 5th ring with a sag of 25mm and it comes up EASY! but thats how i like it. I got a razor blade stuck in my rear last week and I ended up 280 bucks lighter so look where ya goin. Not that had anything to do with this but oh crap! later !

Just try to remember a few key things when youre gonna pull one... sit back on that seat, squeeze the tank with your legs, cover that back brake, do the ON OFF ON throttle technique and dont just drop the throttle when it lifts, hold it in place and use your throttle to control the angle of the wheelie.

clutch 2nd, 1st is way too twitchy before you have throttle control and brake reflex. Stand and clutch 2nd, it's a lot more forgiving

I dont know about anyone else but on my 02 1k I use first gear with no problem, i go about 30mph let off then goose it up to a wheelie, either standing sitting or on the tank. of course once u get comfy with that I also clutch first at about 5mph sometimes just for shits.

Im not an expert but don't rush it,
try it over and over until you feel comfortable to increase the height
and
1st gear is scary as hell
but if you're in it, haul ass (don't over do it)
close the throttle (forks will compress)(as decompressing) crank the throttle
it should come up.(this happens quick)
Video tape yourself. and you'll see....
If you get too high and get scared, most likely you'll close the throttle and the front will slam.
Check out your fork marks, how deep they compressed.
I think the bike gets messed up a little when learning.
Like the forks, chain , engine? , etc?
