i have a hard time pulling it up in 2nd gear, my buddies all have 1000's and they said in second gear i should just stand up and hop on the bike to compress the springs, but i get so nervous cause my bike is in mint shape? is there an easier way?

I had a 01 750 for a while , have a 1000 now, just get going in the neighborhood of 30-45 mph, sit down, cover the back break(just in case), make sure your in second, pull the clutch in with a finger maybe two half way, rev up a bit(about 3-5k rpms), listen to the motor(so you can do this by sound). Do this a bit, then when your ready, same motion, pull clutch in halfway(with 1 or 2 fingers) and let out fast while your giving gas...if you dont come up, your letting off the gas when you let the clutch out, or not letting it out fast enough....PRACTICE!!! and take ur time  Dont concentrate so much and you shouldnt watch the tach BTW this is with stock gearing just find the sweetspot on your bike

I know I am a little late on this one, but there is no need to clutch the 2000 GSXR750 in second, to pull a wheelie. I had one earlier this year and I will admit it takes a bit more RPM, but no clutch is needed. I personally would run it up to about 50mph(about 5K), snap off the throttle then back on, or just snap open to about 3/4 throttle, give it a little jerk on the bars and it will come up. Be careful not to pull too hard, or you will take it back and over with your momentum. I now have a Stock 01 R1 and it takes just a little less effort.

Me don't like the wheelie 101 page myself but that is just me. With clutchies I just plod along in 2nd doin 40kmh sittin at 4500-5000rpm pull the clutch just past friction rev to 7-7500rpm and smoothly and quickly not dump it let it out. Try that but first plod along pull the clutch and rev it to 7-7500rpm but don't engage the clutch. This will give you an idea of engine sound and see how your throttle hand is. When I did my first clutchy I nearly looped it! ALSO cover the rear brake and put your ass back in the seat and make your arms weight less on the bars. Then all I can say is practice, practice, pracice, I learnt how to wheelie on a k5 600 so if i can do it I'm sure u can. Hope that helps a bit.
