kobefan 09-24-2005, 01:48 AM ok im super noob at biking... going 100 mph is already scary for me.. i really want the yoshi exhaust carbon fiber just for the look.. .is it worth it or should i just wait till i get better and save up for a full exhaust?
how much extra horses does just the bolt on add? full system?
thanks for helping a noob out
oh yeah, would i have to "remap it" if i just get a bolt on? and would i have to get a "power commander"
thanks
dc2004600 09-24-2005, 07:31 AM Hey Kobe,
Two questions you need to answer... What year and model bike to you have? And second, what is "primary" purpose and riding style going to be for the bike?
Answer those two and I am sure you will get all the help you need
stackle2 09-24-2005, 10:11 AM I say go for it and go all the way and get a full sys if you want horsepower, go slip on if you are just going for looks. but if you are just all about the bling, there are much cheaper routes to go, I just took my full race sys yoshi off and installed a 10" piece of pipe to my headers....it's louder than a jet engine now, and I can't hear that annoyingly shitty rattle of car doors when bass hits hard in a shitty neon or something...Anywho...that's my opinion...here is another one: if you don't want to get serious about performance, you might as well just stop now...bling and horsepower don't allways go hand in hand...unless you are like me and think that carbon fiber is gorgeous and chrome is rather out dated...your decision...
BLUEGSXR600K5 09-26-2005, 06:29 AM What exactly is your bike? I would say if you must have a damn "yoshi" (EVERYONE WANTS A DAMN YOSHI) i would get a carbon fiber full system. You'll be looking at about $1000. Notice I said about. As for the powercommander, YES. Get a PCIIIUSB and map it to the pipe you buy. My PC cam with a cd that had all the maping on it, but you can also download one from the PC website. www.powercommander.com
Anyway, a full system with a maping job will increase approx. 6-7 horses. Depending on many factors. You will be blowing past 100 in about 2-3 days.
I wanted to be different and bout a Blue Yana Shiki exhaust off of ebay for $140. I can't complain. I love the sound and the power is great. I had a buddy let me borrow a yoshi RS3 slipon on for a while and I like the SHIKI better. MUCH BETTER! I haven't have anyone tell me they didn't like the sound better. I would really recommend one to anyone. But remember it is your bike and you get want floats....your boat! One more thing, I have a TRE. Lots of people will say they don't do crap, but I can tell my bike is a little quicker when you give it more motion lotion. :laughingr It doens't give you more hp, it just kinda moves it around to a different place. Anyway, some will say get one...like me. Some won't! Opinions are like ASS HOLES everyones got one. You can pick up a new TRE off of ebay for about 25-30 dollars. I got mine from fuel moto.
"Ride on!"
"My 05 GSXR sucks gas and hauls ass"
Dirty-GSXR 09-26-2005, 10:33 AM Hey Blue, is your system loud? I too am looking into a Yoshi full system and I know Yoshi's have a pretty suttle tone compare to others. Setting off car alarms wit loud pipes is not the best idea for me, since they also attract cops.
JFM GSXR 750 09-26-2005, 11:46 AM Yo I was riding with this dude who has a 05 750 with a full Tiforce exhaust system. He had a Yosh carbon TRS oval slip-on and he said he hated it. The Tiforce was louder and more power blah-blah.......... I told him you cant compare a slip-on to a full exhaust. Anyway I have an 01 750 with the Yosh
TRS oval slip on and I love it! I have a K&N air filter, TRE and had the bike dyno tuned. I may go with a full system over the winter if my money allows.........but for now I am happy with my slip on!!! If you don't
have the money get the slip-on. The stock exhaust is way too quiet.
Motojoe_23 09-26-2005, 12:55 PM You said "going 100MPH scares me" .......... so, why do you care what it does for performance.
Get the one taht you think looks, and sounds the best, and go from there.
no you dont HAVE to remap or get a powercommander for a bolt on....... you can and I think you SHOULD,but it is not mandatory, and the bike will run fine, just not make the most power it can.
stackle2 09-26-2005, 02:27 PM I say full system, because eventually you are going to end up with brass balls and realize that you are bullet proof and 100 mph is going to be a starting point...then a full sys will make a difference...and power commander is nice, you can adjust the bike to provide power that you can use wherever depending on your riding style
Hammy 09-28-2005, 08:28 AM A Yoshimura on a Suzuki?!! That will be original!
evilbologna 09-28-2005, 09:32 AM A Yoshimura on a Suzuki?!! That will be original!
Seriously. Dont get a Yosh. Everyone has one.
khmai_guy 09-28-2005, 06:41 PM Look into getting BLUE FLAME EXHAUST
dannygsxr1000 09-28-2005, 06:52 PM I got rid of my IXIL exhaust for a Yosh and everyone has been busting my balls about it because my bike was different now it looks like everyone elses. I say get something different than a yosh I wish that I had.
