Talked to a law enforcement officer last night about the death of a sportbike rider on Highway 190 on Oct. 1st in Killeen, TX. The officer did not remember the guys name but he was a young soldier about 23 yrs old riding an RC51. Turned out that he lost control at high speed while using an off-ramp on-ramp passing technique to jump alot of traffic. Basically, on the highway there is an off-ramp to an overpass to get to the community college on the other side of the highway. Right after the overpass is the on-ramp back on to the highway. So if the traffic is slow some bikes or import tuners will use this combination of off-ramp with an immediate on-ramp to jump a bunch of cars. When the guy topped the off-ramp witnesses said his front lifted slightly leaving him with nothing on the road to steer/turn with so he went straight off the ramp into a rocky/gravel area wearing no gear.
