Now I know....

Now I know what it feels like to loose someone in a motorcycle accident. I got word this morning that a someone I knew and his passenger were killed at about 3 am on sunday morning. We dont know the specifics yet...but it seems like he was hauling ass...and was cut off or lost it...on the first turn of the highway entrance and both he and the girl riding with him were thrown over the guard rail and killed. We went to the spot and found pieces of his bike. I wish I never felt this feeling...i didnt know hime that well but it hurts just the same. Be safe when you ride...its your life and you can do as you please but when/if you go alot of people will be affected. My prayers are with the families. Keep ridin and try to avoid dyin...

it sucks even more when it s your best friend my boy Zach has been gone year and a half and still miss that dude. He got me into riding, met my wife through him and was a heck of a drummer. as for the feeling, i dont know if it ever goes away. i just try to make sure Jesus knows my name before i ride, every ride could be the last so make 'em all good rides. I have stopped alot stupid stuff on the bike since then. The death of a friend and having a kid on the way doesnt make me want to quit rideing but it has changed the way i ride. didnt mean to ramble just got me to thinking

yeah I know what it feels like too man, I lost my best friend about a year ago and it does hurt. But I know that it was his time to go or he would still be here, and that he is heaven. You just have to make sure that your right with God cause you never know when it will happen, it happens in the blink of an eye. you just got to make sure your ready when you go.

i bet you tell that to all the atheists.... its never anyone's "time" to go unless it involves health complications or old age..... i could make it "my time" and do 100mph into a truck head on. hauling ass with a passenger on the back @ 3am is not somebody's time to go, its being stupid as fuck and paying the consequences....i'm sorry if that sounds harsh but thats the truth. i still feel sorry for his family/friends, RIP man

I say a prayer each time I get on my bike! No one knows when there time is. Gods takes us when he feels it is time, weither we are riding at 3am, 90 years old, or taking a crap on the toilet! I hear ya on the wanting Jesus to know who we are before we get to him! My Prayer with his family.

Gods takes us when he feels it is time funny how the religous people don't really KNOW their religion. free-will cancels out the idea that God takes you when he wants. thats just a way to make death sound more comforting. funny how it almost works too, doesnt it?

I want to stop this before it gets out of hand. I understand everyone has their point of view, thats cool and you can express it but I don't want people to start debating about religion in this thread or any other for that matter. Everyone belives what they want and you are not going to change that by arguing with someone. I'm just trying to take precations and keep the board civil. Thanks for understanding everyone. As for him RIP, and I know exactly how you feel, in the last summer 3 people I know died, and I've had a total of about 5 go, all on bike, I feel for ya, and they will always be in the back of your mind, but don't ever let that stop you from riding!

i'll totally agree with that last line ski! :thumbup: Yea man, I've had people give it up for reasons like that, but I just could never do it. My best friend, mom, and dad all ride street and if something ever happened to them, I would be pissed, but I could never give up bikes, bikes are my life.

I almost gave up riding on February 22nd of this year. I had a friend killed right in front of me. It almost took me too. His bike missed my head by 3 feet in a flat spin (just like Biker Boys). The impact of the crash sent his bike backwards towards me and his front wheel over my head. I stopped from 90 mph to 0 in about 20 ft. without ever looking down. The whole time I was focussed on what was happening. He died on impact. When you hit a bumper of a explorer at about a buck twenty, head first there is no chance for you. I really considered quitting and it has taken me a long time to get my confidence back. RIP to your friend. RIP Bartel Coleman.

Very true, but the way I look at it is, if I didn't ride, then I would have never met all of the friends I have that I could possibly loose on a bike. Everyone I hang out with now, other than family are guys I met while riding, and one of them has been my best friend for 4 years now. Some of the relationships you come across while riding are just amazing.

I'm with the bum on this one... I ride/hangout with him and all the other's he's talking about. I just went through a hellacious break up with my girlfriend. right before my birthday. If it wasn't for a bunch of guys I met cuz of motorcycles I don't know how I would have gotten through the roughest times. Thanx Steve!! :thumbup:
