I was also wondering what rpm I should launch? I plan on droping the front abou another half inch. Hopefully that will help me keep the front end down a little easier. Thanks for the adivce so far.

I really had no intention on takin my bike to the strip, but I think it would be fun. Im always there with my car and have a good time so figured that I'd give it a shot with my bike.

As said before, don't dump the clutch. Slide it smoothly as you roll into the throttle. Start out launching at around 3000 rpm. As you get use to it and think you can get better 60' times then increase the rpm and see if that helps.

Just went to the track myself today for my very first time. Have owned the bike for 3 months and this is my first street bike. I tried to plan out ahead what I was going to do to pull a low 11 sec pass. Being the total rookie I was I could only muster a 12.0 @ 116 MPH. Quite embarrassing. So I get some advice from other bikes there and with there help I mustered out a 11.2 @ 125.77 MPH sixty- 2.077. Mods are Power Commander and Yoshi slip-on. So I don't see why you shouldn't run as fast or faster than my times. My best advice that helped me would be to idle up to about 5-6K RPMs then slip the clutch all the way out to about the 60' mark. While I was slipping out the clutch I was gradually opening the throttle wide open. I never let out of the throttle while shifting. Takes a lot of practice. I knocked off .8 seconds after 8 passes. Still a lot left to be had. Practice makes perfect.

yeh i didnt get to make it to the track today but 2 of my buddies did... one with an 05 gix 600.. he managed to pull off a 11.8 @ 119.6 mph.. and the other ridin a 04 R6 pulled off a 11.9 @ 121 mph... both are stock except for slip ons... i think i could have cut a better 60ft then them considering my bike is significantly lower.. hopefully ill get to find out next week... thanks for the tips thou...

The first 60 foot is where its all at, after that all you have to do is hit your shift points and stay tucked for less wind resistance. Im lucky Im 5'6" and 165 lbs so I have no problem tucking competely behind my fairing. And keep the bike going the straghtist possible.
I learned the last couple of years that on a 600 you need to come out hard, up around 8-9000. Stock wheel base thats about the hardest you want to come out. More then that your just going towheelie or kill the clutch trying not to. Much more below that and it will fall on its face. Ive made a ton of passes on my friends 03 600. Its lowered straped, stretched 5 inches and geared -1 +2. Now my 1000 I bring it out at around 4000, slip the clutch while rolling into it, by the time the clutch is completely ingaged its wide open throttle, But its got big bike torque. With 600's the harder you come out the more its gonna help you. When I got good I was coming out at 13'500. But I made a ton of passes on that bike, he let me run it in a points series last year.
Dont be scared to lay on the tank, I lay my stomach flat on the tank, bring it up hard, slide the clutch and after that its a combination of clutch and throttle control. That clutch/throttle control is what decides if you spin or wheelie. Its very hard to learn but once you do its very valueable.
Bottom line is that it comes down to practice, Practice makes perfect. My local track doesnt open until april 1st and I cant wait. Ive did a ton of work on my bike this winter and had to just watch it sit, wondering how its going to run.
