Oil Change Mileage

Since you were talking about Oil I thought I'd see how many miles everyone goes before they change their oil.

Usually between 1000 and 1500.

Usually between 1000 and 1500. less than 2k with synth

+/-3000 w/synth

ever 1000 to 1200 or after a weekend at the drag strip $hit is brutual on your clutch and gears!

I need to change my oil BAD!! I have been lazy. How is the clutch lubed?? I have noticed I've been popping out of 2nd gear more often. Does my oil change have anything to do with it? :confused:

on silkolene race i changed it at 4000... I could have gone longer based of the fact that my clutch was still smooth. When i changed it i seriously thought about putting the used stuff in my truck since it felt like it was barely used. My truck gets the mobile 1 treatment. It didnt even change color much... Still had a red tint when draining. I cant stand going any longer to change my oil even though it is race synthetic. on the regular suzuki oil i didnt go more than 2000 miles before my clutch was getting clanky... I love silkolene.

The clutch is lubed with the engine oil.

it cost $12 a liter, i do change my filter everytime instead of the suzuki reccommended everyother oil change. filter-$15 oil-$36+$12 (1 extra to top off since the filter was changed) That get way too expensive if u change it at that mileage every 1000-1200 Miles....Thats crazy dude....what do u do with ur bike?????

i also change my oil and filter every 1K miles....better to be safe than sorry, and for all you new riders burning on that clutch trying to get them wheelies down you might wanna do oil changes a little more. :infrandom

no its not....atleast 1K is not bad at all, all breackage has allready occured and oil is allready seeded threw.

1000-1500 for me. only on my second change right now so I'm still running semi synthetic to let it finish seating everything in. after that I'm gonna go the same mileage with full synthetic

Full synthetic all the way...every 2000 miles or so...

Every 2500-3000 miles but has never been over 3000 miles between Changes Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 Emgo Filter

I'm probably closer to 3,500-4,000 miles, or about twice a year in between changes with mobil MX4T. You street guys that change it every 1000 miles are nuts. But to each his own :thumbup:

Oil is changed every 1500-2000 miles with Amsoil full sysnthetic.

Depends on the summer heat for me and I determine if its really hot summer 1700 but typically 2000 :thumbup: Viscosity breaks down faster in the heat... I know milage is what really counts but I usaully count it by my fill-up 14-15 fill-ups

Man you guys are fricken crazy. Book says 4000 or 6 months. I use to do 3000 with regular oil but now i am using synthetic and am going to 4000 now. You guys either have too much money or way too much time on your hands.

How? Certain oils are shown to be more effective when they oil gets a chance to "break down." I thought mobil1 was one of them. My car guy(big time motor head) use to tell me the same thing. This is what i read online (will try and find article)

While most oils and synthetics will instantly start loosing viscosity under high shear loads Mobil1 and Amsoil nearly move across the graph in a straight line. Like said before i am no expert but the guys i use to talk to are real big motor/turbo heads. When i dropped a upgraded turbo in my car is when they started tell me all this. My personally will run the oil till what the manf says anything else in my eyes in a waste of money. If you are running synthetic then handsdown i beileve you can go to the manf mileage without a problem. Just my personal feeling.
