Default RIP Simoncelli

Has just been announced he has died following the horrific accident at Sepang where he was struck by Edwards and Rossi, knocking his helmet off.

Thoughts are with his family.

I can't believe it. Alot of people didn't like his riding style, saying he was too aggressive but that's the exact reason I liked him, he did what he had to do.

It is what it is. Very sad indeed. the other 2 riders must feel horrible.

RIP

I found this great little tribute video of him from the other board that I thought I would share. He was more then a racer, he was a regular Guy!

I think the unfortunate thing is that he didn't go straight away! He gained consciousness in the medical centre!

The other two riders were good friends of his. Infact Valentino was a mentor.

BLUEGIXX750-He was the only racer we saw on Cannory Row in Monterey, chilling in a pub with a beanie covering his hair among the common folk. He was a regular guy off the track for sure.

I recorded this turned it on when I got home I knew it was bad when I saw it. And knew he was gone when they canceled the race. I have been to a few different kind of races where racers lost there lives not once have they announced it at the track. This is a sad sad day so very young so talented what a waste thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

The scary part is the helmet coming off. If that helmet was secure and stayed secure during impact , that means the force of the impact literally squeezed his head out of the helmet. It may have been a lot more graphic than they are reporting in the news. "he suffered a very serious trauma to the head, to the neck and the chest." It makes me wonder if the straps are designed to withstand any amount of force, or are designed to break at some point so it doesn't rip your head off.

I think that his helmet was not on securely and that is why the FIM had a conference. I've seen some harder impacts, and the helmet almost always stays on.

If they find that he did not have his helmet on securely, they could have to start more safety rules.

Imagine in the 1000 races? I think they'd produce a lot more force

If you watch the slow-mows the it wasnt the crash that took the helmet off it was the other riding hitting him in the neck and damn near the exact same time another hits his head. My best friends helmet came off when his body was wrapped around a telephone pole with no hit to the head. Its just a strap, and its not our place to speculate...my 2 cents any way.

And these arent baby bikes they are on just because they are 800ccs instead of 1ks, not to mention they ride em harder and faster then most 1ks.
