Key words is what he ran to not what the bike can run too and also he was at a oval track so he probaly was not familar with a bike at those speeds when a turn is coming up (little scared or smart or both) This bike is basically a tuner that Kawi made that has a motor that will run that is all and they should have put it in the place of the zzr but they decided to go after the Busa market as well as the touring market hence the non-aggressive look

You cant even put that in the same class Sportbike. IMO a sportbike is a machine that is fast and AGILE. This is just another straight line pig that will be dropped and stretched for the drag strip. Or, Sport Touring bike with alot of balls. And yes, Its Fugly. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

It's ugly i'll give you that, but its about time somebody stepped up to challenge the busa. That can only be a good thing keep suzuki on it's toes.

Guys and Ladies of this forum, whenever you look at the Kawi you got to remember that 60% of the bike is Suzuki
I wouldn't be surprised if the ZX-14 would run faster than the current Busa... Damn its ugly though

thats probably why the busa hasnt been changed much since 99, there hasnt been any reason to, there wasnt anything that could really challenge it, being why its supposed to be revamped for 07, interested what suzuki's going to come up with for it, anyone find any info on it, lemme know

The simple truth is that all Fast Ass Bikes seem to be ugly as sin...This is no exception...I have never really liked the styling of the Busa....But it has the ZX14 Beat hands down....I am on the fence...I own a ZX6R and a GSXR....So I can't call a brand loyalty here....I have always loved Kaws and Zuk's are nice as well....Each bike has something different to offer its riders.

True they did not completely merge, but Suzuki has a big chunk of investment with Kawasaki...Just like Chrysler, Daimler-Benz....the Crossfire is 70% MBenz SLK but they it's carrying the Chrysler badge. As for Kawi they carry a lot of Suzuki technology in their motorcycles.

Yea.... 60% performance.... 40% Kawi fugly....
My understanding of the Suzuki purchase of Kawi was they bought the off road and water division, Not the street division... I'm sure there might be some R&D from suzuki in the street just from domino effect.... but it's all kawi in the ZX....

Kawasaki and Suzuki were sharing atv's and dirt bikes with each other to fill in their respective lineups, but I think they ended that deal as of '06. Look at the kfx400 and ltz400. Also Suzuki supplied Kawa with the little 80cc atv and Kawa supplied Suzuki with the 50cc atv. I might have that backwards though. I don't know if that extended to the motorcycles and jet ski's or not.

Why do they want bikes that are so fast? I don't get the top speed thing. I wouldn't own those bikes unless it was for touring and then I would buy something more comfortable. They are useless IMO.

personally i think the busa is ugly also and the zx 12 aswell as the zx14 they need to put the busa engines on somthing like the gixxer 1000's maybe just make it a tad bit diffrent to be uniquethe gixxer 1000 zx10 r1 and cbr 1000 are some pretty ass bikes but thats my opinion and opinions are like ass holes everybodys got one

My cousin picks his up next month, I cant wait to ride it. Hes gonna stretch it and slam it, I love my 02 gsxr 1000 but I cant wait to make a pass on it, its hard to argue close to 200 horsepower and 160 ft/lbs of torque @7500. But, It is one ugly machine, and is prolly 4-5 inches wider then the busa, we seen one at the muzzy booth in Indy last month.

Have you heard the news yet , Suzuki is considering using the 6 cylinder Stratosphere engine in the next gen. Busa. It will be increased to 1300 or 1400cc and will get a manual gearbox instead of the semi auto Stratosphere unit. Also Yoshimura are producing made to order litre bikes that pump out 202bhp at the crank, 213bhp with ram air and 99ft/lb torque, weight is down to 164 kg. The exhaust was devoloped for the Suzuka 8 hour endurance race, it is equipped with forged alloy Marchesini race spec rims, a W.P rear shock with high and low speed damping adjustment and resprung and valved forks, the head gasket is 0.5mm thinner than stock and the ports have been flowed. This year 25 will be made so don,t hang about, the price is Ł15,785 pounds sterling. It might sound a bit expensive, but this is a WSB spec GSXR, so remortgage your ass and get your name on that list.

Dude , if you don't get the whole top speed thing that's cool. However, some of us get it. I had my RF900 +1 FRONT. Hit I795 (5 straight ass miles) at 2AM and you'll see 5-10 sportbikes being retarded. I might be one of 'em . The cops around here don't care what you do at 2AM on the interstate and we take full advantage.

The Busa sure is an ugly bastard, but for good reason, it is almost perfectly aerodynamic, and when a bike is capable of 200mph it needs to be aerodynamic. You will not be admiring yourself in shop windows when crusing at 190mph, so who cares what it looks like.

I like the 14
Sorry, but i like the looks of the 14. I like the way the headlights are in a wide V, although I'd personally have it look like the 05 10r, the design is more unique for that bike. The gixxers and busa all have had the same look for years, with a few tweeks. I mean it aint bad, but it oughta be updated now.
Top speed. For those of you who are all about the top speed, remember none of these bikes stock go over 186 (??)mph. It was the requirement for them to be sold in the US. besides, outside the 1/4 track, whose going to even reach those speeds?

You beat me to it. I was just going to comment on how horribly ugly it is.
Someone said it topped out at 174 mph, and then someone else asked if a Busa tops out higher. Doesn't a Busa top out at like 192 mph?

+1. When will you ever get to actually use that top speed. This argument can be said about all bikes and all cars. Even the ugly ass Mini Coup has a top speed that you won't be able to use. I think of it like this. In High School Track and Field The ugly Girls were always the fastest and best at Track and Field. Same goes for bikes. I think the 600's look better but the more cc's you get the uglier they get. IMO.

+2 to that
if your only capable yourself to only go 100mph, then all u need is a bike capable of 100mph, not 200+mph.
