It sucks that my first post had to be the fact that my bike got stolen today. I just brought it last week. Got stolen at Mt. Sac in walnut california. I thought it would be safe at school... but i guess not. :-\ . Bike had no mirrors... minor scratches on right side... bent brake lever... and dealer "mountain motorsports" license plate on it. I didn't even get my real plates or first payment yet. If anyone sees anything thats in so cali.. Let me know, i'd like to get my bike back

Oh btw.. is there like a 30 day grace period for bikes.. like they have with cars... reguarding insurence?

Are you asking about the 30day grace period because you did`nt tell your insurance you bought it yet.

As far as I know it`s not the same.

That sucks man. My insurance company State Farm had a 30 day waiting period before they would pay to see if the bike turns up. Hope it all turns out well.

Damn that blows!! I need to take anti-theft measures. Cant decide between a tip sensor alarm with a pager, a disc lock, or maybe just two taser probes mounted in the seat with a weight switch. Seriously though anybody know what I can expect to pay for a decent tip sensor alarm with a pager, installed.

After having my 05 750 stolen I get stressed out leaving my bike out of site for over 1 minute. I have a alarm and GPS tracking on it and I still can't leave it alone. Oh well guess I have to ride it 24/7

Just remember no where is safe to leave your bike outside so do everything you can to protect, it because the feeling you get when you go to the spot that your bike was parked and it is not there, sucks a$$.

I have the scorpio Alarm/pager paid around $300 with all the bells and whistles tip/perimiter sensor/kill switch/paging and it works great but It is not thief proof. they have to many tricks up there sleeves. That is why I added GPS tracking I can see where my bike is at anytime using the internet.

The gps unit was $300 and there is a $10 per month subscription that lets you track 15 times per month. if you go over 15 a month it is .75 per track.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Simply put "You Press The Button, And We Do The Rest". The system works much like any other alarm or remote entry system you may already be using. To arm the Phantom unit, the motorcycle must be turned off with the ignition switch in the off position. Simply press the ON button on the remote and the Phantom unit is activated. Once the unit has been activated, the electrical system on the bike is dead and it cannot be started even with the key or the ignition in the ON position. It will then send a point of activation signal to the monitoring center (time, date stamp, and location), the on-board 3D chipset will set degree of angle three dimensionally. When you return to your motorcycle just press the off button on the remote and the Phantom unit is disarmed and the motorcycle is ready for normal operations.

ALARM MODE
If someone attempts to move the motorcycle in any direction, either up or down, or left or right the 3D chipset will detect the movement and immediately send an alarm signal. Once the unit is in alarm mode, it will send a signal simultaneously to your built-in pager inside your key fob remote and the monitoring center. Once the monitoring center receives the signal, one of our highly trained operators will contact you (cell phone, pager, etc.) and ask you to verify your motorcycle had a false alarm or was stolen. If the motorcycle was stolen, the operator will then contact local law enforcement in the area the theft took place and give them the exact location, direction, and speed of your motorcycle so it can be quickly recovered.

ALARM MODE (FALSE ALARM)
In the event that the motorcycle was moved by you or simply fell down while being armed, the unit will still send the signals to both the key fob remote and monitoring center. Once the monitoring center receives the signal one our highly trained operators will contact you (cell phone, pager, etc.) and ask you to verify your motorcycle had a false alarm or was stolen. If the motorcycle has NOT been stolen, you will be able to dismiss the call by verifying that it was false alarm and by giving the operator your password. When you return to your motorcycle just press the off button on the remote, and the Phantom unit is disarmed and the motorcycle is ready for normal operation.

CRASH DETECTION
The crash detection portion of the system does not require any activation such as an on/off switch. The Phantom unit comes installed with proprietary software and hardware, in the event the motorcycle is involved in an accident, a signal is sent directly to the monitoring center. Once one of our highly trained operators receives the crash detection signal, he or she will try to contact you (cell phone, pager, etc.). If your are unable to answer the call, the operator will verify that the motorcycle still has not moved from the location the first signal was sent. At that point, the Phantom operator will contact local emergency services on your behalf and direct them to your location.

The monthly price is $13.99 mo. or $167.88 yr. There are no yearly contracts to sign. You can go month to month if you would like or purchase one year in advance.

It sounds like a good system but I like the fact that I can find the bike myself and then call the cops after I have done what I need to do.

Ah shit man that sucks!!! Unless you told your insurance you are buying a bike, or you bought it from the dealer so you can take the bike home.

Also, to those of you who are some times late in ins payments... the insurance gives you up tp 30 days to pay your late premiums, but if you are late and need to file a claim or loss in that 30 day grace period they can deny your claim and cancell your coverage - so they wont pay you a dime. Just a heads up....

thanks for all the support... you know its weird though

- i filled a police report and the shierff ran the vin number.. and as of now he says the bike the dealer sold to me does not exists in the cali DMV computer. I purchased the bike on the 20th on march and i didn't think the DMV took that long to process used bikes. I asked the dealership what the hell is going on with the VIN and they just said the bike was an out of state bike. But i really don't understand that because... isn't it the dealers responsibilty to tell the cali DMV that they picked up a bike from someone out of state and to change the registration of the bike? The sheriff says that if anything.. the dealership fucked up the VIN number and mistyped it or there is some fraud going on. But im thinking the DMV hasn't processed it.. eventhough its been 11 business days since i've had it. But if not and the DMV rejects the VIN number.. i smell a lawsuit against the dealership for selling me a bike that does not exist. But the shit part is... the police cannot make a police report until the VIN shows on DMV computers. So if the dude that has my bike gets pulled over within the next few days.. he's got a clean bike

my bike ... before it was stolen.

don't get the disc lock.. i had that. They'll just carry it onto a truck.

The bike was purchased out of the dealer... i don't understand why i can't understand why they didn't give me insurence because isn't it illegal to drive without insurence?

Normally, you would sign something as part of the veh reg/paper work, indicating that you agree or will furnish insurance coverage for the vehicle- especially if its financed. If you paid in full, then thats just liability.

Hmmm, its an out of state bike? how many miles on it?

Let get real about this... You live in california in a high theft location. In california you are legally required to have insurance on any motor vehicle you are operating on a public road.. Period. With out insurance your car/motorcycle can and in most cases be towed and you will receive a ticket.... And in california ignorance of the law is no excuse.

As far as the vin# you have a legit complaint with the dealership if something is fishy... But as far as riding your bike and leaving it somewhere with no insurance on it that is your own dumb fault. There is no one to blaim but you self... So man up so to speak

you can get alarms installed rather cheap .. but understand about alarms they are deterrents nothing more . if a theif wants your bike and its outside lets say they will get it . having installed alarms for 10 years i know how to bypass them and get around them . and for the record I NEVER would steal or use my knowledge to jack rides ... so if yall want tips or suggestions lemme know

On the GPS tracking over here in Hawaii a cop started the franchised company. So at least over here with the punk factor you start speeding in excess of what they lke and they'll have your routes and exactly where you are all lined up and waiting for you acting like the laser gun got you. You might check on the history of the guys selling (distributor) them.

You should have seen the post about these guys that caught the them in the act. Two theifs and two people in the house. The thieves got there asses kicked. I think one of the owners was a mixed martial arts fighter?
