98' 750 conversion to 1000

I blew my engine in my 98' 750. I see alot of 1000's for sale on ebay (engines). Most of them are cheaper than the quotes I have been getting for a used 98' 750 engine. The 1000's for sale on ebay are mostly 03' and newer. I was wondering what it would take to convert from a 98' 750 to a 03' or newer 1000. Anyone with experience? I am a ford technician and am very handy. I have experience working on bikes but don't know the details. Such as....... Are connectors the same, ecu, exhaust, radiators, engine mounting?

dude...rebuild you motor...with out heavy modification you cant fit a 1000 in it. That 750 is a awesome damn motor, thats gonna be my next upgrade when this 600 craps out. how many miles did you have on it?

wanted to swap my 98 with a 02 1000 but it takes a lot of work and you need the new exhaust, ecu and radiator i stayed with the 750

Its been soo long I could not really tell you where to start but here is the end result of my buddies swap. Its not all show It will bust run as well. This is my 791 kit I had in my old srad as well. I would go with 1k motor You can goto Gixxer.com look at the stickys you have a will and you can make it work.

Thanks for the info. My engine had 13k on it. Needs a crank. Got a quote of $1000 just for the crank. To much to rebuild. What about going from a 98' 750 to an 05' 750. I see that the where the head mounts to the frame is different.

Your gonna need bracket fabricated or made for any motor if its not a Srad 96-99 750 or 97-00 600 frame

I forgot the name of the motor shop that redo heads and cranks but you can get yours redone for less than 1k now labor could be a problem. I have a crank that is good i could sell alot less than that like more than 1/2 of that. 96-99 cranks gonna be ther same
