2 f****n slow!
man,,,,ok I got my new 1000, after being down for about 3 years now, and it seems to be a little on the slow side. Now , ive been gettin laughed at for even saying such a thing, but ive come to the conclusion that my 01 1000 was a bit faster. off the line this bike sucks a$$. it doesnt even feel like a gix until about 7,000rpm, and even then you have to put effort in bringin the front up so apart from the stock speed restrictions, the seats 2 low, the mirrors to narrow ( cant see around my shoulders) -& the shake like hell, the fawked up trunk space, ( which hardly holds a pack of smokes), and the retarded lookin rear cowel, which im hoping will some day grow on me, and the freakin hazards flash when its topped out, like an annoying little light in the corner of your eye. i guess im glad to be on the road again?
any 1 else think that the 05 should have been a beta test, where as you could return it to sukuki, so they could fix the bugs?

my buddy's 04 1000 was the same way! i rode it and thought the same as he did( WTF!!!) he took it back to suzuki, they had it for about 2 weeks and said that there were a number of sensors wrong?! but no FI light/code?! go fig. that out... it deff. ran better when he got it back... and ran right the way it should have after he had it dynoed and maped...

05 1k has pretty long 1st gear that is why. Did you notice thatyou could ride your 1st gear alittle longer than the previuos ones.

Up here in Boise, I watched an '05 1k totally annihilate every other older 1k in the 1/4 mile. Stock they run .5 seconds faster and about 10mph faster.

Blah Blah Blah Stop whining and sell it!! Did you not look into it before you bought it? I sure look into purchases and even possibly ride them before buying. Thats a lot of complaints, did you expect it to be perfect for just you. Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure they would love this post on an R1 forum or something....LOL

the bike is smoother, lighter, faster, and more powerfull than previous years.
I have ridden damn near every modern sportbike made, it is FAST. You are halucinating or you have something wrong with the bike.
NOW personally out of all the 05 litters, I think I like the power and ride of the ZX10 best, and if I wanted a litter that is what id buy. The suzukis syling doesnt sit well with me yet. The Zx is damn smooth.

Satndard rule of thumb
TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!! Yeah i rode the 05 and felt the same as you do,Then i rode an 01 and thought hooooly shit.it felt like it took right off like a bullet and just kept pulling.I went 1 down and 3 up with an 8inch extention and now it reminds me of a pitbull on leash just tuggin and wanting to go go go.

I have a 01 Gixxer 1000 and had a 01 750. Rode an 04 750 and a 05 1k. The 05 is an animal. The reason the older one may take off quicker is the gearing, they are more geared for the street. Starting in 04 all the bike manufacturers started gearing the bikes more for the track.
Even my 02 Honda 954 was not geared like a gixxer(you must go at least -1 to even keep up with gixxers), or had the power of one. Out of the new 4 literbikes , I think the 05 GSXR felt the fastest to me. They are still geared better way better than the new R1 and the tall geared 1000 RR. ZX-10 has decent gearing stock. Im keeping the 01 1000 for now(stock gearing is perfect), but out of the new bikes the GSXR is the best looking in person in my opinion.

all the new bikes the power seems to just come on late, but I really like the way the 05 1k pulls so hard..that thing is a beast...even the stock exhaust has grown on me....real nice bike

The 05,k1 might be the fastest but the other day my friend wreeked going about 50 mph and that "POS" cought on fire and now isnt worth a thing..The front forks broke and before my friend even hit the ground the bike looked like a camp fire sliding down the road...The 05's fast dont get me wrong but when it hits the ground you'll be lucky if you can even fix it..

It seems to a common thing that the Tps sensor was off on a lot of 05 gixxers cause thats what went wrong with my 05 600. but its all fixed and i love the bike

I just got my 05 1000 and have about 600 miles on it at 70 mph in first with my 350lb brother on it it still has the power to stand up in fact you have to back out or you will loop it no slip of the clutch just roll on it. yes this bike is tame below 45mph but this is good for using on the street get the revs up and hang on the guy at the start of this post must have got a lemon.

Top End king, too. Out ran a 2005 busa and an 2005 Honda RR 1000. Oh yeah there's don't shut off on any of these. I probably was running bout 215, don't know exactly because the speedometer stops at 186 but the RPM are still climbing. I know that is not my exact speed cuz the speedometer is of after you hit 100, but it was fun drifting by the lazy busa.

Too Slow?
I have owned my 05 Gixxer 1000 for 3000 miles now. Slow is not a word that comes to mind when I think about it. I have had it up to 174 mph so far, and there is lots more to go.
I think that it is the finest 1000 cc sportbike on the planet
If you have had a problem getting the fron up, you are not twisting the throttle enough.

I don't know, it seems like there are people saying it will lift the front in 1-3 by rolling it on and others say it doesn't because gearing is too high. I will tell you that mine does not lift the front and I weigh 140. On the other hand, I can barely hang on to it at full throttle, and it gets to the rev limit very fast.

i can't give ya an exact time of how long i was in it, but i can tell ya that when i was in it at that moment when i looked down i seen 191. and the people i was riding with told me they were at 185 and i was still pulling, not very hard, but it was still a pull, now i've been told that digital speedo's are incorrect, so i really don't know. all i can tell is what i seen on mine, and that people here (northwest fl) have said that they've seen 200. which sounds crazy to me

the speedo will not read above 186. on any gsxr. I have an 03 and my best buddies is an 05 both with tre's also wont go out of 5th gear on the indicator on the 05 either with it on. 191 you have got to be guessing and not seeing it. unless you have this special 05 that no one else has.

man then i might either been high as hell or something lol. i'm being dead ass serious when i say i seen 191. but shit i could be wrong, just like i'm sure that there is no way that a few cats in my town have seen over 200. anyway i'm not here to argue bout it i was just giving my experience. i am thinking about getting a tre, but i don't wanna have my indicator stayinh in 5th all the time, but if the performace upgrade is worth it then i guess its a small sacrafice
