Check out ebay. You can pick up a set of T-Rex stands for $127 including shipping.
Ive used them and they are good stands.

You need to shop around if you're seeing a single Pitbull for $300. You can get front and rear Pitbulls for about $300 if you need them both.

There's a reason so many people pay the price for Pitbulls. The super cheap sets on eBay aren't just inexpensive; they're cheap too. I have a set and they suck donkey balls. I have used them on 3 different bikes and the bike always leans to one side on them. I don't trust them much, but I wanted to cheap out...

One of the sturdier-looking sets that don't cost as much a Pitbulls are the T-Rex stands, also on eBay, but not as cheap as the worthless ones. Another brand that looks sturdy is Motrax, which I have seen in person at my local Cycle Gear. They're a bit less expensive than Pitbulls, but still look sturdy. Another option is Vortex stands. There may be others, but these are the ones that I can think of right off the top of my head.

I have both pitbull and T-rex and the pitbulls are better, the T-rex seems to hold up decent. Not quite as sturdy as the pitbull.

I use a Motrax rear stand which cost me €50, probably about 80 dollars..Good thing i like about the Motrax over the Pitbull and Trex is that the Arm retracts, only end up tripping on the others! its perfect
Just gave her a clean too there

That's what I use, the Pit Bull forward-handle. Love it.

Two Pit Bulls. FWD handle for the rear, and one that lifts under the fork legs for the front. These thing would last ten life times.
And a Bursig.

Three bills for both stands is a good deal. I have owned a set of Pit Bulls for four years and I wouldn't recommend anything else. I never skimp on tools. Remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for?" There you go.

do it right the first time, so you won't have to buy another set, later on.. PITBULL stands are worth the $$..

Try CIA (Concepts in aluminum). Super lightweight, choice of powdercoated colors and front and rears available. I got mine at my dealer for $118. I just saw though the price has jumped to $125. Inflation sucks. Anyway, if you get it from their website, shipping is free.

Super strong and they come ready to work with or without spools.

Whatever paddock stand you decide to purchase, price shouldn't be as much of a concern as should engineering and quality of craftsmanship (I said "as much" not "at all"). What retailer is offering these stands for this price?

I am leaning towards the T-Rex. Besides idle chatter, has anyone had a failure of these stands or possibility of bike damage? I love the pit bulls but that is a huge chunk of change. Thx

Where are you?? I'd rather pay $300 for a good stand and not pay $800.00 for brooken plastic, or a damaged bike, etc. But seriously I paid $208.44 including ordering fee for pitbull ss rear stand and swingarm spool/slider. stand $140's, Pingel spool/slider $40's. So several people have bought a pitbull stand for under $160.00, so sounds like your estimate is very much off. And pitbull has a website. You can also find used stands on craigslist and ebay. But I personally refuse to use anything but a pitbull on my thousands of dollars bike. Good Luck.

I just received my new front and rear T-Rex stands. I was worried, but after receiving them I am so glad I didn't spend $310 for the Pit Bull stands. The T-Rex's are very sturdy and I don't see any issues so far. I will take some pics and post them soon...

i just got my Vortex rear stand in the mail today. thing feels really beefy and the bike feels nice and solid on it. I have had my bike on a pitbull before and i dont see a huge enough difference to warrent the price for casual use. heavy duty every day or lots off up down useage at the track maybe but for the average user i dont think a pitbull is the only option

Agreed. My Vortex stand is sturdy and works well for average bike maintenance.

I have a REALLY stupid question (great - another noob, huh!?)...

I just received a set of rear fork stands for my bike, and noticed here that people have different "bolts", or "spools", whatever you wanna call them, where the jacks rest on!

Mine, however, didn't come with them, and I am curious to know if any bolt / spool anything will work, or what!?
