well i finally got my 05 1000 feeling like a gsxr. it took me an ivans tre, power comander III, a custom map, a full yosh trs ti pipe, arata rear sets, and last but not least, a new sprocket up 2 in the rear. im pretty happy with the pull off the line now, the first gear turtle has grown some legs. and yet i still havent used a gps, the speedo still topps @ 186, the only diff is that with stock gearing i would top out at 10.5 rpm, and now just under 11.
these arata rears are a must, the throw between gears is down to about 1/2" as opposed to the big 3/4 - 7/8" stock.
about 1 month ago i raced a kid with an 03 1000, geared , 8" over, and lowered, as my stock geared turtle off the line took about 6 seconds to reach 7,000 rpm, ( which was pretty slow, being that i launch @ 4.5 rpm)
he pulled ahead by about 6 bikes. we raced 5 times, and every time i had a gr8 launch, but he took me by about 6 bikes every time.
we raced again the other night , after i installed my new sprocket
and the races got a lil more interesting. tire to tire, i took him by about 8 bikes every time. i ran a 04 & 05 r1, took em by about the same.
ran another 05 gsxr 1, ran em by the same. so all in all, either i had a 1st gear lemon, or gaining 2 teeth in the rear has awesome gains.
