Default 2002 gsxr 600

hey guys. im new to the forum. new to the gsxr world as well. just had a quick question. ive seen that gsxr first started fuel injection in 2001. I just bought a 2002 gsxr 600 and it is carbeurated. Did Suzuki make both fuel injected and carb this year? Thanks.

No sir. You either have a 2000, or a 2002 with a 2000 or earlier engine in it.

This is of course assuming you aren't mistaking the fuel injected throttle bodies for carburators.

Are you sure your not confusing the electronic fast idle for a choke? When I bought my 03 the guy thought the fast idle was a choke and told me the bike was carburated

+1 2000 was the last year of the carb'd gixxers and alot of people make that same mistake.

Yes - good call! The fast idle lever remained through 2003 on the 600. It was dropped earlier from the 750 but I forget what year.

Thanks for all the replies guys. i will have to check myself when i get home. i didnt even look at it to check cuz it was my buddy that owned it before me. either way, it runs amazing so not a big deal but fuel injected would be better. any advuce on upgrades? it has exhaust and header now but thats it for upgrades.

you guys were all right! thanks again. my buddy mistook the fast idle for the choke. He said when he had the tank off, he saw the throttle bodies and thought they looked like carbs. thanks again for the help.
