Default Manual Cam Chain Tensioner

So I'm debating whether to get a MCCT for my 1000 with 52k miles. When I sold my 98 GSXR 750 with 32k, it ran perfect. About 2k miles later, the engine went out of timing and screwed a lot of things up.

How many of you with high mileage GSXRs are with or without the MCCT?

How often do you adjust? I'm thinking every oil change to retension it.

How hard is the installation of a k5 1000.

Thanks

if it's an ape manual cam chain tensioner it shouldnt be hard to replace. very simple setup. and you should check it every oil change just to play it safe.

I subscribed to this thread to find out how often others are adjusting this. I just set my valve clearance, and set my manual cam chain adjuster in the process. Things seem a lot quieter now, and most of that may be due to the cam chain tension adjustment. I had not even touched it before this, and it has been about 5k track miles since I bought this track bike. I probably should have given that some attention before now. I probably went way too long, but I'd be surprised if checking with every oil change is needed. But, I don't mind being surprised. Whatever it needs, it needs.
