Last night a recently famous local rider was critically injured when a car pulled out from a stop sign in front of Joshua.
He was riding with a few others yesterday evening.

Joshua started a riding group largely with the use of social media, and it has grown to many cities in WI. They often do rides to meet up in Chicago with 'chicago united', etc.

There have been some critics of the group, but by and large, it has overwhelming success and growth.
Many have T shirts, stickers, caps, etc. with the logo.

This is the main face book group page:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/WisconsinMotorcycleGroupRides/

Lately, WMGR has been doing ride meets on Tuesday nights in Milwaukee. Taco Tuesdays

Tonight- we met- about 80 of us and rode to the Hospital where he is in the ICU- critically injured.
I have heard the extent of his injuries- I'll sum it up as critically injured.

We had called ahead, and the security of this large hospital system were ready for us and allowed us to ride up to the top floor of the main parking garages. Everyone was cool, no one rev bombed, etc. We showed respect and they were hanging out with us on the top of the parking garage- no problems or drama.

We all signed that large card you see there, and they'll put it in his room.

Please pray for our injured brother, his long term prognosis is not good. Godspeed Joshua Hoeft

UPdate on Joshua,

He has been out of ICU and in a regular room.
He has a trachesotomy, but is breathing on his own.
He keeps his eyes open and was tracking me in the room some. He can grip his hand.
He still has the right side of his cranium skull bone removed.
He is in contact precautions and is on Vacomycin IV.- I didn't ask the staff about the medical things.

I plan to go see him about once a week, in hopes of seeing progress.

We're still praying for you Joshua for a good and hopefully full recovery.

Any word on the accident report?
I hope he sues the crap out of the cager as he'll probably never work again.
I'm very sorry for not replying to these messages sooner. But as Josh's mom and Guardian, however, for legal reasons, and for his medical privacy, I did not comment.
I do want to make it very clear... I did not stop anyone from visiting Josh. When he was medically unstable, it was the decision of the medical team. Whomever was filling everyone in on his medical information was not authorized or correct. Joshua suffered a very severe TBI. Tramic Brain Injury. He was in a coma state.
At the time of his accident Josh did have a helmet on. You see, his accident was on exactly the 3rd anniversary of the death of my fiancée . The police did a 4 hour re-enactment of the scene. After Joshua went threw the windshield, he flew out, hit the ground. His helmet did its job. Then Josh's head bounced off the ground so hard that the helmet cracked in half (not a manufacturer defect), then he hit the ground again.
The Police, Firefighters, EMT's, medical staff, surgeons, nurses, PT, Ambulance drivers and many many more I can't even begin to thank for helping.... Joshua Ryan Hoeft passed away 07/18/2020.
The person that hit him sid not even receive a ticket fir going through the stop sign and hitting him. I guess he will need to live with that and I will need to.learn forgiveness the rest of my life.
All I ask... please remember Joshua's two little girls. They are still suffering. Please, before you get on your bike... make sure you have your personal paperwork in order. Wills, POA...
Remember, Everyday a little girl hurts more without her Daddy.

Don't know on the accident report.

I've been to see him a few more times, not much change. He still tracks you when you're on his left side with his eyes. He's trached and can't talk even if he is able to.

Time will tell. Last time I saw him they still have his right skull bone removed.

There is a big benefit ride for him today to try and help with his bills. I thought he had a good job with good insurance, and hopefully the insurance of the person causing the accident.

I went to see Joshua again today

They reversed his trach, so he's breathing thru his own mouth/nose again on his own!
Still not talking, I think I heard him make some noise though, it's a start.
Still have the Rt part of his skull bone removed too.

His hygiene is great, they keep him cleaned up and clean shaven!

God speed Joshua!

More updates,
I think I mention he had his top right skull bone removed to relieve swelling and pressure in his head. They put it back a few weeks ago, it got infected and they removed it again.
He has now been transferred to another hospital here in Milwaukee as well. His mom is legal guardian, and won't allow other visitors again now.

There was a big planned benefit for Joshua yesterday, they had good weather and went off really well!

Damn hate you hear about your friend, glad to read he is making done progress in his recovery. Did they bring charges on the driver that pulled out in front of him?

Any current update on his status? My wife had a similar incident with a woman making a left-turn in front of her but she was lucky to hit the front fender and fly over the car instead of hitting the cabin and having to deal with the blunt force trauma. These kinds of "accidents" are always avoidable if people would just pay attention to the road.

Hello,
I'm not sure about charges on the driver, etc.

He is now in a Rehab type home out of the hospital.
Still is missing the Rt top half of his skull bone. They took out to relieve the pressure form the swelling/bleeding intracranially. /They put it back but it got infected, so removed again, months ago. He wears a helmet like a bike helmet a lot to protect his brain.

He has to have an ambulance ride when he sees any of his doctors, etc.
Still making small/slow progress though.

Prayers for you brother

Thanks all for your good wishes.
Yes, major ICH= Intracranial Hemorrhage.
I don't know what brand, probably a name brand/good one though of helmet.
He often did not wear a helmet also, he was starting to more at the time of his crash.
I was not there. I spoke to one that was riding with him that day/evening.
He was wearing a helmet. Something was said however that it actually came off during the collusion?
Perhaps it was not strapped, or strapped snugly?

Yes, I was told he went head first into the side of the roof on the car that had pulled out on him from a stop sign.
I saw photos of the car, driver door dented in, and just above it the dent in the roof above the driver door.
IIRC, it was July 15th, 2019.

He certainly didn't deserve that and I feel badly for an injured fellow rider but some of his behavior seemed to invite it. I found a picture of him in a T-shirt and what look like tennis shoes. Even occasional riding with no helmet is foolhardy IMO. Still I wish him well, though it sounds like it's going to be a long recovery.

P.S. "collusion" is what Trump and Giuliani do (couldn't resist).

Yesterday was the 'official' - family sponsored funeral/ride/meet for Joshua Hoeft.
He continued to not do well, so was put in Hopice and expired in a bout a weekl

There have been a few other rides/meets for him as welll
He had started a group, that still exists by the name of WMGR = Wisconsin Motrocycle Group Rides.

I met up with a third main stop yesterday, at a Bowling Alley, outdoor Volleyball center near my home.
This was the 3rd stop, still everal left, many were in cars too.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Started reading this from the top, took a few minutes to realize you made an update to an older thread that I hadn't seen before.
